I was born and grew up in South Africa. I always wanted to be a veterinarian, however I completed a MSc in Biology (Integrative Bioscience, Oxford) before completing my veterinary degree and graduated from the University of Pretoria (Onderstepoort) in 2005.

I worked as a small animal veterinarian in Cape Town for 2 years after which I purchased a small veterinary practise and Vetshop in Paarl, South Africa. During this time I worked and managed this practice and Vetshop (Felix + Fido) and did some volunteer work as a surgeon at the Stellenbosch Animal Welfare. I also worked as a locum and later a permanent senior veterinarian at Brackenfell Animal Clinic for 4 years.

I moved to the beautiful island of Guernsey in October 2022, joining the wonderful Vets for pets team. I love the island life and beautiful beaches. I am now also completing a Certificate in Small Animal Surgery. I am also responsible for arranging the in-house soft tissue referral clinic.

I spent my first 7 years after graduation working at a busy small animal practice in Hampshire. I was then offered the opportunity to help set up a new veterinary clinic 'Crown Vet' in India, so I moved to Mumbai which was an amazing experience and I was actually the first non-Indian vet registered with the Indian veterinary board.

After India I moved back to London for a year, then decided that I would trial island life and moved to the beautiful island of Bermuda which gave me a taste for island living.  This set me up for island life in Guernsey where I have been busy living and working here for the past 4 and a half years. Clinically I really enjoy wound management and dermatology.  In my free time I love going to the gym, as well as being member of the Ink drinkers book club and travelling.  I look forward to continuing to meet and treat the pets that belong to this very special community in Guernsey.

Since qualifying as a RVN, I have taken on a greater management role within the nursing team, and was thrilled to be offered the Head Nurse roll in 2021. Our team has grown and we now have a number of veterinary nurses and veterinary care assistants, and I am very proud of how they have managed to meet our clinical expertise and client care during the very challenging covid period.

My name is Lucy, I joined the team at Vets for Pets in January 2022. I have always had a growing passion for animals! I first fell in love with animals when I came home to my first dog, Gala. She is now 16 years and going strong! All through my school years I knew I wanted to work with animals and had my heart set on achieving this goal, so when I saw this opportunity I couldn't give it a miss. I'm always busy at home looking after my three dogs, two rabbits, four fish and my cat Max, as well as helping out at the stables where I ride. I am extremely grateful to be working with such a loving and caring team and am excited for what the future holds.
