Practice Owner & Veterinary Surgeon

BVSc BSc MRCVS

Read Justyn bio

I’m Justyn, a small animal veterinary surgeon and practice owner at Portsmouth Vets for Pets. I graduated from the University of Bristol in 2006, with an additional degree in Zoology, and have worked exclusively in small animal practice ever since.

My route into veterinary medicine started early. My grandmother worked with Cats Protection and was often caring for orphaned kittens and strays. She made a lasting impression on me, and I saw first-hand the difference that proper care and dedication can make.

In 2009 I completed a Certificate in Small Animal Medicine. I enjoy the diagnostic side of practice, but it’s the variety of general practice that I find most rewarding—no two days are quite the same, and I’ve always focused on being a skilled general practitioner.

I became a practice owner in 2012 with a clear aim: to create a veterinary practice that combines high clinical standards with a genuinely personal service. For me, good veterinary care shouldn't be rushed. It means taking the time to listen, explain, and make sensible, considered decisions so that owners feel informed and confident in the care their pet receives.

I’m particularly passionate about building a practice environment where both clients and their pets feel comfortable, and where care is thoughtful and consistent rather than just routine.

Outside of work, I live with my wife, our two children, and a Bengal cat called Freddie, who very much runs the household. When time allows, I’m a keen photographer and enjoy watching my football team.

I graduated from University College Dublin in 2022, then spent a year completing a rotating internship in a multi-disciplinary specialist hospital, before joining the team here in August 2023. My main interest is surgery and I have just completed a Post-Graduate Certificate in Soft Tissue Surgery in February 2026.  Back home in Ireland my family have a gorgeous Bavarian Mountain Hound, but sadly I don't have any pets of my own yet!

I have worked at Vets for Pets Portsmouth since the practice opened in 2012 and it's been a  pleasure to be a part of it's growth.
As head nurse i am known for my calm approach, genuine compassion, and love of all animals. I have a particular interest in birds and wildife. I also enjoy supporting and training student nurses, sharing knowledge and helping build confidence in the next generation of veterinary professionals. Outside of work, I express my creativity through art and photography, unwind at live music events, and i love getting lost in a good book. At home, I’m kept on my toes by my elderly cat, Mj, whose cheeky personality never fails to make me laugh.
I am proud to bring experience, warmth and a thoughtful presence to my work, building trusting relationships with every patient and the people that love them.

I qualified as a Registered Veterinary Nurse at Middlesex University in 2016, and joined the team at Portsmouth Vets For Pets in 2017. I also completed a certificate in Medical Nursing in 2025. I most enjoy looking after hospital in-patients, helping them to feel as relaxed as possible to aide their recovery.

When not at work I enjoy going to gigs, spending time with friends and relaxing with my fiancée Katrina, stepdaughter, cats Sybil, Estella and Steve and axolotl Jesus.

I am Catherine and I am one of the Registered Veterinary nurses here at Portsmouth VetsforPets.

I first joined the team in 2015 as a student and then qualified the following year in 2016 having done the majority of my training at my previous practice. I have been in the veterinary industry since 2011, where I first started as a Veterinary care assistant and worked my way up to become a nurse!
I love all aspects of the job and I like to keep my hands busy! At home I have two young children and a cat called Sully, who all keep me very busy! Outside of work I enjoy exploring with my children and spending time with friends and family.

Originally I joined the Reception team at the end of May 2021 following a complete change of career in retail optometry. Since then I have chosen to progress my career in the clinical field of nursing and have taken a position as student nurse (SVN)

The practice offers me different experiences daily with lots to keep learning all the time and keeps me very busy.

I am a dog owner myself and enjoy taking them on lots of adventures with my husband, exploring Cornwall is our favourite thing to do!

I am really passionate about providing your pets with a safe and welcoming environment and been here to help our clients with their precious furry friends.

I joined the team back in March 2023 as a veterinary care assistant and during my time here I have learnt more than I could have imagined! So far my favourite aspect of the job has been working as a team to care for our inpatients and getting to see them recover and leave the practice happier and healthier.

Outside of work I have two free-roaming house rabbits called Winnie and Mervin and when I’m not cleaning up after them I like to spend my time painting.

I qualified back in 2022 after doing the FdSc Veterinary Nursing at Sparsholt & joined the team back in April 2025. My favourite part of being a veterinary nurse is nursing poorly patients back to health and I love being a consulting nurse, especially our repeat geriatric patients!
Outside of work, I’ve got a son called Reggie who keeps me busy most of the time! I love spending time with him, family and I also crochet as a side hobby. I haven’t got any pets of my own but I regularly look after my Dad’s dogs Bert the Collie and Rocco the Labrador/Staffie!

I began working for Vets For Pets in 2021 and have been so overwhelmed by the warm welcome from all the clients and pets.

I love the busy atmosphere and the opportunity to help pets and support their owners.

I come from a background in performing and qualified as a dance teacher in 2017 and I teach alongside my role here.

I have always had a keen interest in animals and this was only heightened when I adopted my cat Beau. With his placid temperament and fitting in with such ease, he encouraged me to get another and I ended up with a crazy, loud, but incredibly loving King Charles Cavalier Spaniel Nelly, they couldn't be more opposite.

They have taught me that all animals have such unique personalities and how I am a complete soft touch.

I only joined the Vets for Pets family in March 2026, but have been made to feel so welcome by the staff, and all the clients.
I have worked in the Veterinary industry since I was 17, and I wouldn't want to work anywhere else. Each day is so different - I love being able to spend time with our clients & their pets, supporting them with whatever is needed.
Outside of work, I have 2 young boys who keep me super busy. We also have a crazy Cavalier King Charles Spaniel called Duke, so our house is always noisy!
