Laura is an accomplished veterinary surgeon with extensive experience in emergency and critical care medicine (ECC) and a strong focus on feline medicine, cardiology, ultrasonography, acupuncture, and dentistry. After qualifying as a veterinarian in 2004 from the Autonomous University of Barcelona, she pursued further specialization, earning a Ph.D. in Cardiology and honing her skills in emergency care. With over six years of experience in ECC, Laura excels in high-pressure environments, managing complex cases and delivering life-saving treatments for critically ill patients.

Laura’s expertise in cardiology enables her to provide exceptional care for patients with heart conditions, offering tailored treatment plans for optimal outcomes. She has a keen interest in ultrasonography, including performing advanced heart scans, and is currently working toward a certificate in ultrasonography to further enhance her diagnostic capabilities. Certified in veterinary acupuncture, Laura integrates this holistic therapy to manage pain effectively, especially for senior or chronically ill animals. Her proficiency in dentistry strengthens her comprehensive approach to patient care, recognizing the vital connection between oral health and overall well-being.

Outside of work, Laura enjoys traveling, photography, running, hiking, and water sports. She frequently visits family and friends in Barcelona and shares her home with two cats: Albus Dumbledore, a Maine Coon, and Dobby, a playful Sphynx.

Hi, I'm Jo! I began as a Veterinary Receptionist at a busy hospital back in 2014 and fell in love with the industry, working hard through different roles and eventually qualifying as an RVN in 2022. I recently (in summer 2025) started at Vets 4 Pets Rayleigh after several years working in the bustling 24-hour hospital environment.
My clinical interests include Intensive Care Nursing; Geriatric & Palliative Care; feline & canine behaviour and Inpatient Nursing, as well as recently rediscovering my love of Nurse Consultations - I really enjoy spending time with pets and their owners helping to keep them as healthy & happy as possible.
At time of writing I have one cat at home, Nymph, who I spoil rotten; but I've had the pleasure of owning countless pets over the years including birds; fish; mice; dogs; hamsters and I even fostered a baby magpie once!
I am a keen bookworm when time allows, as well as writing my own material which I hope will one day be published. I also enjoy getting out into our wildlife garden and tending to our extensive veg patch
