Dr David Donovan
Practice Owner and Veterinary Surgeon

I grew up in the Tuebrook and West Derby areas of Liverpool and have been working in veterinary practices in Liverpool from the age of 16. I graduated from the University of Liverpool Vet School in 2012 after doing a lot of my veterinary placements at Liverpool Vets4Pets and started working there straight away! My main interests are orthopaedics, soft tissue surgery and pain management. I have gained a certificate in small animal surgery and a certificate in veterinary business management and am now working towards a certificate in veterinary education, coaching and leadership. I am keen to teach pet owners about preventative medicine and the general healthcare of their pets. It's great to be able to offer a wide range of orthopaedic and dermatological procedures here in Walton Vale Vets4Pets. I have a cat called Andrew and a dog called Minnie, both of which I re-homed from local rescues. You may see or hear Minnie around the practice!
I grew up in Prescot and attended the University of Liverpool Vet School, graduating in 2012. After this I moved to a busy practice in Stoke, but have returned to Liverpool and joined the Walton Vale team. I have worked with lots of rescues!
I am originally from Liverpool but have completed my veterinary degree at the Royal Veterinary College in London, I decided to return to Liverpool after my studies.
I have been training to Walton Vale Vets4Pets while at university, so know the practice and the team well. I’m particularly interested in cardiology and am working towards my certificate in cardiology. At home, I have a Cocker Spaniel at home called Reggie!
I am from Liverpool and also attended the University of Liverpool School of Veterinary Science, qualifying in 2017. I started working at Old Swan Vets4Pets before transferring to Walton Vale. I have a keen interest in general surgery, but can’t wait to meet all of your pets during consultations.
I grew up in Newcastle upon Tyne but fell in love with Liverpool when I moved here to study Veterinary Science at university. After graduating in 2019 I worked in a busy veterinary hospital in the north-east for two years, then returned to Liverpool where I have settled. I have a particular interest in soft tissue surgery and love being around cats and rabbits
I grew up in Hertfordshire and moved to Liverpool to study veterinary science – I fell in love with the city and didn’t want to leave! I enjoy all aspects of veterinary medicine, but I’m particularly interested in soft tissue surgery and pain management. At home I have a rescue dog called Keira who is a small (but feisty!) terrier cross.
I came back as veterinary nurse team leader in July 2024, my previous experience included out of hours and a referral hospital. My main interests include emergency and critical care, radiography, in-patient care and Beagles.

Rachael started with us as a volunteer when the practice opened then attended a 3 year Veterinary Nursing Degree at Myerscough college to qualify as a registered Veterinary Nurse in 2017.
Rachael has a dachshund called Buddy who is extremely cute!
Jade started as a volunteer at the Liverpool Old Swan Vets4Pets practice then attended a 3 year Veterinary Nursing Degree at Myerscough college to qualify as a registered Veterinary Nurse in 2017.
I originally started as a volunteer in the Liverpool Old Swan practice in 2012 before working as a Student Veterinary Nurse at the Walton Vale practice. I qualified from Myerscough college as a veterinary nurse in July 2016 and started working in Old Swan, but have now moved back to Walton Vale.
I have an interest in theatre and medical nursing and exotics.
I started working at Walton Vale Vets4Pets in December 2020. I have worked in the veterinary industry since 1999 and I qualified as a Registered Veterinary Nurse in 2008. I absolutely love my job and I enjoy all aspects, but in particular nurse consults. I do have a soft spot for our golden oldies. At home I enjoy all things 'crafty' as well as cooking.
I have been a client at Walton Vale Vets4Pets since the day it opened! I then came to the practice for work experience before starting my nurse training at a local practice. I qualified as Registered Veterinary Nurse in 2021 and moved over to Walton Vale in 2022.
Rachel Hughes-Wiseman

I have been in veterinary for over 9 years, but qualified as an RVN in 2020. I particularly enjoy emergency and critical care and hope to do a certificate in this in the future. I believe educating clients with there new puppies or kittens is very important for there welfare and ensuring they get the best treatment possible. I have a chihuahua called Marley who is the best boy, a cat called Blossom, a hamster called pickle and 2 horses called Dolly and Olaf.
I moved to Walton Vale Vets4Pets in 2021 to continue my training to become a Registered Veterinary Nurse. I attend college weekly and then receive training in the week in the practice to grow my practical skills.
I qualified as a Registered Veterinary nursing from Myerscough College in 2025. I have a keen interest in inpatient nursing and hope to expand my veterinary skills as I build my experience in practice . In my spare time I walk my gorgeous springer Sian and cuddle my cat Artemis.
This is my first time working in a veterinary practice, with previous roles in client care. I’m excited to meet your pets and learn how best to advise you on their care. At home I have a gorgeous staffy called Bella
Yvonne is a Registered Veterinary Nurse who has returned to the practice following our refurbishment to manage our pharmacy, medications and stock control. At home Yvonne has a beautiful dog called Maud.
I started at the practice on a temporary basis during the COVID pandemic to assist with looking after clients while social distancing! Once restrictions were lifted, I started permanently as a Client Care Advisor. I volunteer working with animals outside of work at zoos and the museum.

We have achieved Silver accreditation from the Investors In the Environment. The IIE are an independent body that gives awards to companies that are reducing their carbon footprints. Our practice is working hard to reduce the amount of gases we use during general anaesthetic procedures as this is most damaging to the environment.
