Advanced services
We have invested considerably in our team and kit to make a number of advanced services available to our clients. We also accept referrals from other practices.
Orthopaedics
Our veterinary team have undertaken advanced training to allow us to perform orthopaedic surgery in our practice. If your pet develops an abnormality involving their skeleton or joints, such as elbow dysplasia, a patella (kneecap) that gets stuck, or a torn cruciate ligament, an orthopaedic procedure may help them.
Laser therapy
Laser therapy is non-painful and involves directing infra-red radiation into inflamed or damaged tissues to accelerate the body’s natural healing process. It is often used for musculoskeletal issues such as arthritis, but the benefits of laser have been suggested for a range of conditions.

Ultrasound
We are pleased to be able to offer ultrasound scanning in practice, which is a painless way to look inside your pet’s body to find out what’s going on.

Airway Surgery
Brachycephalic dog breeds such as French bulldogs and pugs may suffer with Brachycephalic Obstructive Airway Syndrome, resulting in difficult breathing, sleeping and exercise intolerance. Surgery to widen the entrance to the nostrils and shortening the soft palate to help prevent life-threatening breathing problems can be performed at this surgery.
Ophthalmology
We offer Ophthalmological diagnoses and treatments of conditions of the eyes and their associated structures. Our veterinary ophthalmology service is available for a wide range of medical and surgical conditions in small animals.
Meet the team

Gabriel Chida
Practice Owner & Veterinary Surgeon
BVSc, MRCVS, PG Dip Bus Admin, MBA
I am your local veterinarian and have been open for over a decade. I have over 22 years of experience in small animal practice and twenty of which were spent here in the south west region. I am interested in all aspects of small animal medicine and surgery although my passion is in orthopaedics. I have varied experience in general practice work including emergency care. I have accrued bags of knowledge through evidence based practice, tacit and implicit learning, varied continuous professional development programmes from reputable institutions such as Improve International, North American Veterinary Conference (NAVC), BSAVA and Western Veterinary Conference (WVC) to mention but a few. I am an avid reader and such a keen learner. I like having a good laugh as the day progresses. I enjoy travelling and football. At home I am owned by my Cat and my 'Four Little Angels'. My wish is to ensure the best possible care for your pets and your conscience. I look forward to meeting you, your 'furry' loved ones and to enter into an everlasting relationship doing what we do best.

Paul is a joint owner here at Brislington Vets for Pets and also owns Abbeywood Vets for Pets where he is primarily based. He qualified from University College Dublin back in 1987 and has worked in a variety of veterinary roles over the years — including time spent in Australia treating all sorts of fascinating creatures!
‘My focus is on small animal care, and one of the parts of the job I enjoy most is consulting — getting to know our clients and their pets, building lasting relationships, and helping people make the best decisions for their animals.
I’ve always believed that pets are part of the family, and I treat every patient with the same care and compassion I give to my own. It’s a great feeling to be trusted with their wellbeing.
Outside of work, I’m a keen birdwatcher and love being out in nature. I also enjoy long walks with my dog, Star, alongside my partner Amanda. With our two children now grown up, I’ve got more time to enjoy these things — and you’ll often find me at the races or cheering on the Ireland rugby team!’

I have practiced as a vet for over 25 years and have worked in all sorts of veterinary practices, including private practice and the charity organisations RSPCA and PDSA. I also practised for a brief spell in The United Arab Emirates. I have worked with all different species from farm animals to exotics like snakes and lizards, but have concentrated on working with small pets for the past 20 years. I have worked at the Brislington practice since it opened in 2012 and love all our clients and patients we have gained in that time.
I am also a practising artist, regularly showing my work in galleries around Bristol and Bath, and have a keen interest in the visual arts. I live in Bristol with my wife and my cat, Tommy.

“Caring for animals isn’t what I do. It is what I am.”
I have been enjoying working as a vet since 2006. I obtained a bachelors in veterinary medicine (BVSc&AH) and a masters in veterinary surgery and radiology (MVSc) from India; followed by a masters in small animal science (MSc) from Germany. Spending almost a decade at the universities (in India and Germany), I was privileged to play the roles of a student, a teaching assistant to undergrads, a researcher, attended scientific meetings and actively participated in various medical/surgical camps for pets and large animals including equines. In 2014 I moved to clinical practice to join a referral hospital from Evidensia group, Germany. I relocated to Bristol, UK in 2019 and since then I have been a part of the team at Vets for Pets Brislington. My areas of interest include internal medicine, soft tissue surgery and ultrasound; however I have always been passionate about ophthalmology. I recently gained a post graduate certificate in veterinary ophthalmology. Outside work I enjoy spending time with family, reading, cooking yummy Indian food and listening to music.

My name is Kosheila. I grew up in Malaysia. I came over to study veterinary medicine at the University of Bristol in 2008. Qualified in 2014. Since then, I have worked in first opinion and referral practices and referral hospitals. I spent a few years up north in Lincoln and Durham with a referral practice and hospital. I undertook a rotating internship. I then moved down south to Weymouth and worked for a referral practice. I’ve worked in rural settings and cities around London, Somerset, Wales, Bristol, Dorset and Devon. I travelled around India, Toronto, Malaysia with work and rescue charities. I decided to move back to Bristol over a year ago. I’m excited to be with the Brislington Vets for Pets Team. My interest is in Surgery, Cardiology and Imaging and I am currently in the process of finalising my imaging certificate. I love the community feel here in Bristol. I’m glad to be back. I am a big foodie! I love the diversity and culinary options Bristol has to offer. During my free time I enjoy walks and hikes.

I have over four years of experience as a Veterinary Nurse and a recently completed a certificate in emergency and critical care. I am passionate about all aspects of patient care, but especially nursing clinics, I love getting to know both our patients and their wonderful owners!
At home, I am kept busy with my own animal family, which includes three dogs, Luke and Lottie the French Bulldogs and Annie the West Highland Terrier, along with four cats, a tortoise and two rescued rabbits.
Outside of my professional life, I have recently celebrated my engagement to my Fiancé and am overjoyed with this new chapter in my life. I am excited to meet you and all the furry pets.

Even as a small child I dreamed of a career working with animals. That dream become a reality in 2004 when I secured training at SPCA Harare as a basic dog handler. Fresh faced and eager to learn, I was thrown headfirst into the life of a busy mixed animal practice. I then enrolled with the University of Zimbabwe to do a veterinary nursing diploma, which I graduated from in 2012. I am currently practicing and seeing how things are done here in the UK. At home I left my little Border collie, Snoopy. I still enjoy training dogs basic obedience, i.e come, sit down and stay.

I have been working within the practice since 2016, starting as work experience to gain some insight in to the veterinary industry. I am now working as a care assistant for Vets for Pets and really enjoy meeting all of our lovely patients each day. I am planning in the near future to start training to become a qualified veterinary nurse, and would like to gain more experience working within theatre. In my spare time I care for my trio of dogs and enjoy riding my horses, often competing locally.

I began my career here in 2021 as a Receptionist with a keen interest in animal care. I have completed a degree in BSc Zoological Management and Conservation (Hons) and have an array of experience with exotic and endangered animals, big and small. I have completed work experience in the UK with different zoos and zoo vets over the years and have domestics experience with my own/ family pets. I have grew up with a variety of animals, including dogs, cats, tortoises, salt and freshwater fish, rodents and countless others. I have a particular interest in birds and have reared them in my own aviary for the past 14 years and have an abundance of knowledge to share. My favourite animals I have worked with in the past are zebras, gorillas and flamingos.

I moved to Bristol in January 2019 with no clue what I wanted to do but my love for animals (especially dogs) lead me to Brislington Vets for Pets in June 2022. Since then I have gone from a Client Care Advisor to Veterinary Care Assistant and I am now a Student Veterinary Nurse hoping to be qualified by 2027.
I have a particular passion for Nursing Care which includes working closely with the team to make your pets feel comfortable and as happy as we can while they are visiting us.
Outside of work I enjoy reading, going to the theatre and spending time with my nieces and nephews as well as my husband and our two beagles who love to get into mischief which both staff and clients love to hear about.

I’d always been set on working within the veterinary industry, and in 2019 I attended Bristol University to complete the Veterinary Nursing and Bioveterinary Science degree. I graduated with a first class honours degree. From here, I completed a nursing graduate scheme at Langford referral hospital, circulating around all the departments where I found my passion for theatre and ECC.
After the graduate scheme, I came to Brislington Vets for Pets and I have thoroughly enjoyed my time here! I look forward to the future and applying my current knowledge to a first opinion setting. I have a soft spot for German Shepherds - having grown up with them all my life, as well as small furries, such as hamsters and rats. In my free time I love listening to music and doing jigsaw puzzles!

I joined the practice in March 2016 and feel very privileged to work with such a friendly and caring team.
I lived in the Philippines for 8 years and whilst there I cared for and rescued a multitude of animals. My menagerie consisted of 5 dogs (4 from the streets of Manila), an iguana, green crested lizard, a little scops owl, lovebirds, finches, a rooster, 3 ducks, some fish, a bat and even an eagle for a few days. Since moving back to the UK my house is a little tamer and I currently have a small flock of zebra finches and a couple of diamond doves.
I guess it was only natural for me to end up working at a vet practice with my love for animals.

I started working with animals when I was 15 at a riding school and livery yard. This fuelled my love of animals through university where I studied Animal Behaviour and Welfare, BSc. During this time I found a particular love for animal behaviour.
Fleur - I joined Brislington Vets for Pets in 2021 as a receptionist where I found a true love for helping our clients and fussing over our patients. These days, as deputy practice manager, I work hard to ensure everything runs as smoothly as possible and our patients and clients receive the best care possible.
At home I enjoy working with my Croatian rescue dog, Ula, who keeps me on my toes. She has inspired me to continue pursuing my love of animal behaviour alongside my work and so I am studying to register as a clinical animal behaviourist. It is my goal that soon our clients will have someone in the practice to help with not just their pet’s physical problems, but any behavioural ones too!

I joined Vets for Pets Brislington in January of 2018 and have enjoyed every moment since.
Before that I had a joyous 5 years in a Cattery. Cats are my true weakness, especially a ginger, and any of our regular clients and colleagues would know this. Before opting to work in an animal environment I worked in the Insurance Industry for 16 years but decided animals are way better than people.
My life and passion outside of work includes my Bengal Girl, Goldie, who at 21 and is still as sassy as they come, no neighbouring cat dares to come in her garden. But all my time is primarily taken up by my horses, my Buzz, who is my life, and a very lively little 21 year old Welsh Pony, Misty. We all love nothing better than riding around the Chew Valley.

I have adored animals my whole life and love how their presence is proven to reduce stress, anxiety and depression. My admiration grew further in the pandemic when I got my kitty and he made the lockdown not so lonely. I have a black and white tuxedo fur baby called Pluto and he is the craziest and cuddliest kitty I’ve ever known.
After finishing school, I tried many different career options but have learnt that animals and their care are my passion and joined the practice to develop that passion. I’m not sure what path of veterinary medicine I would like to pursue in the future but know that working with animals is where I belong.

I’ve always known that I wanted to work with animals in my lifetime, growing up in Australia, I frequently visit the outback to see my grandparents who owned all sorts of animals; chickens, horses, 3 dogs and 4 cats. Not to mention all of the colourful wildlife that I’d come across, kangaroos are wonderful yet intimidating!
This is my first role in the veterinary field and it’s really shown me how much I belong in this profession! My passion for animal care has only grown since working here and I’m excited to see where this will lead me.
Outside of work I love spending time with my two rescue cats, Molly and Georgie, the latter is known to be a mischievous gremlin, in addition to editorial makeup artistry and video games!

I am recently new to the veterinary world but have always had a love for animals of all kinds and caring for them. I have a 7 month old boy tabby cat who due to his age is still very mischievous and slightly crazy but I think it definitely gives him character! He also gives the best cuddles too, but on his terms of course. I also have the amazing job of caring for my other family members dogs when they go away, they leave them with me as they know they will get lots of cuddles and attention.
Outside of work I enjoy going to the theatre my all-time favourite musical has to be Wicked or The Rocky horror show. I have also a passion for collecting crystals.
Our practice owner, Gab Chida, took over Vets for Pets Brislington in 2012 with a simple goal—to offer trusted, compassionate care for the pets in our community. We know how much your pets mean to you, because we’re pet lovers too. That’s why we’ve invested in modern equipment like digital x-rays, ultrasound, an in-house lab, and a fully equipped operating theatre—to make sure your pets get the very best care, right when they need it. We love getting to know our clients and their furry companions, and we’re proud to be part of their journey.
