Gail, Essex born and bred, qualified from the Royal Veterinary College in 1986 so has recently celebrated her 23rd ‘official’ birthday! Working in many different walks of veterinary life over the years, mixed practice, equine practice, small animal practice and 5 years as a dedicated emergency vet on night and week-end shifts has taken her all over the country – and to the other side of the world! Gail joined us in May 2009 and says she is content to be back on the day shift as “The Old Part-Timer”!! Her veterinary interests include soft tissue surgery, diagnostic imaging and metabolic disorders. She enjoys contributing to the profession through her many roles on the Council of Essex Veterinary Society over the past 10 years, including her “proudest moments” as President in 2002 and 2003. Hobbies include motorcycling, dancing, swimming and skiing.

Becky, originally from Chelmsford, graduated from the University of Liverpool in 2006. Her first job was in a mixed animal practice ion North Cambridgeshire, it was a great introduction to the beginning of her veterinary career. After 3 years she decided to move back to Essex after spending some time travelling to Hong Kong, New Zealand, Japan and South Korea. Becky started at the practice in September 2010. Her veterinary interests include soft tissue surgery and medicine – especially endocrinology. She loves being a vet and enjoys looking after her flat-coated retriever, staffie cross and a ginger and white cat called Harvey.

Emma enjoys the strong relationships she has made with the team throughout her time here. Emma lives in Chelmsford with Richmond the sausage dog and her cats Benson, Matilda and Dottie.

Kelly first joined the Chelmsford team in 2005 as a placement student and weekend receptionist whilst studying at university. Kelly graduated from the Royal Veterinary College in 2009 with a BSc (Hons) degree in veterinary nursing and has been a full time team member ever since. Kelly loves being a veterinary nurse and has a particular passion for wound management and dental care. As the Practice Manager, Kelly really enjoys the challenges of managing a diverse and passionate team to deliver high standards of care for patients. Kelly lives in Chelmsford with her cat Daisy and outside of work enjoys spending time with family, yoga and long dog walks.

Jen recently completed her Bsc (Hons) degree in Veterinary Nursing and Applied Animal Behaviour at Anglia Ruskin University. Jen has been working with the practice since 2019, she completed several of her university work placements with the practice and worked part time while she completed the final year of her university. Jen graduated in 2022 and is now a full time RVN. Jen’s favourite part of being a veterinary nurse is inpatient care and spending time in the wards.  Outside of work Jen enjoys spending time with her family and sailing.

Her favourite part of the job is recovering the patients after their procedures and she especially likes to work with our feline patients. Outside of work she enjoys spending time with her hand rear cat Albus Dumblepaws and her family.​

Philippa lives in a village just outside Chelmsford with her husband and secondary school age daughter and always looks forward to regular visits from her four other children, all of whom are currently away at different work locations and universities. Her family have a number of pets including two German shepherd dogs, two bunnies and a hamster. Philippa’s hobbies include walking, especially in the local wooded countryside and along the coastal footpaths; supporting and often attending home matches of her lifelong football team (currently in the Premiership!); sailing and power-boating; taking-part and assisting in various activities within the church she regularly attends; and helping her daughter with pony care and riding. She worked with the practice from 2007 to 2011 as a part-time receptionist and returned in November 2014 to take up the role of practice administrator. Philippa enjoys working with her colleagues in an animal care environment, aiming to provide the best possible service to clients and their pets.
