Dr Clare Bartram

Practice Owner & Veterinary Surgeon

Read Dr Clare Bartram bio

I have taken a somewhat unconventional route into the veterinary profession having first undertaken a degree, PhD and finally a post-doctoral research position in Biochemistry before embarking upon my true vocation as a Veterinary Surgeon. I graduated from vet school at the University of Liverpool in 2001 with a distinction and joined Rutland House, a busy veterinary hospital in St Helens, where I practiced for the past 12 years. in 2009, I attained a Royal College Certificate in Small Animal Medicine; as a result of this, I undertook referral cases in Internal Medicine and have a particular interest in liver and kidney disease, especially management of chronic cases to maximise quality of life. In opening my own practice, my goal is to bring the discipline and best practices from my previous experiences to a warm and welcoming local surgery delivering the highest standards of patient care. When not at the practice, I live in Liverpool with my partner, Simon, my beloved rescue German shepherd dog called Kimba and our two adopted cats, Frankie and Lucas. I enjoy my job enormously and take great satisfaction from providing a quality service to both my clients and patients.

Nurse Manager

Prior to joining the Penny Lane team in February 2016, I worked at Rutland House Veterinary Hospital, where I began my veterinary nurse training in 2004. After qualifying in 2006, I worked initially in the first opinion side of the practice, then as a referral ward nurse, an oncology nurse and also practised physiotherapy.

From a very young age I have always been passionate about working with animals and I hope to bring that enthusiasm, together with the skills that I have developed over the years in practice, to my new family at Penny Lane.

I have a particular interest in animal rehabilitation & physiotherapy. Outside of work I live with my husband Chris and our little Mogwai Pippin who we rescued when he was 3 & 1/2 weeks old. He has a heart condition so he sees a cardiologist regularly.

My name is Sarah and I’m originally from Germany but moved to Liverpool a few months ago. I qualified as a Veterinary Nurse in Germany and have just completed my UK nursing qualification.

My passion for animals started at young age and I am obsessed with rabbits and Corgis. I live with my partner and my two house rabbits, Tiffy and Chewbacca. I’d love to get a Corgi one day but my two rabbits are causing enough trouble at the moment.

After training in another veterinary practice in North Liverpool, I then started work as an RVN and then Head Veterinary Nurse within a local practice. Prior to joining the Penny Lane V4P team, I taught Veterinary nursing and Animal care apprenticeships for 5 years.

As practice manager I am responsible for the day to day running of the practice from a business point of view and I am looking forward to furthering the close relationship that we, at Penny Lane, have with our clients.

I live with my wife Michelle, our daughter Caitlin as well as two dogs, four cats and 2 cockatiels!

My name is Rachel, I am currently in my first year of studying to become a Veterinary Nurse. I have always loved animals and after finishing school I went to college to study the National Diploma in Animal Management.

My career started working in boarding kennels and after quite a few years progressed onto working part time at Vets Now Emergency clinic and then onto the PDSA. I began working at Vets4Pets Penny Lane in June and I have loved every minute.

Outside of work I live with my partner Jason and our beautiful 12 year old crossbreed dog, Skully.

My name’s Rebecca and I am originally from Luton but I am currently studying in Liverpool. This is my first experience working in a veterinary practice and I am thoroughly enjoying myself whilst learning a lot. I have worked in multiple fields from hospitality to dentistry and I feel that the great team here and the vibrant environment makes this job feel a lot less like work. Throughout my childhood I have been surrounded by pets so I feel right at home here!

Vets4Pets Penny Lane is committed to bringing you affordable, high quality care via a modern, well equipped practice, including a lab, pharmacy, digital x-ray and ultrasound. Plus, on site car parking too!

We are a busy practice that strives to do the best by our clients and their pets.

Please note.

Unfortunately, we are unable to register new clients at this time. This is due to a huge surge in demand for veterinary services at present and we apologise for any inconvenience. We are reviewing this regularly.

Existing clients may register still additional pets

We are going to start allowing clients back into the waiting room from 1st November 2021. There can only be one person per patient, per vet (a face mask must be worn). Others may be asked to wait outside. This is to reduce the number of people in our small waiting area at any one time and keep our clients and colleagues safe.

If you have been asked to send videos and/or pictures prior to a telephone consultation please do so to this address: liverpoolpennylane@vets4pets.com. Please email pictures/videos one a time and make sure to include your full name and your pets.

For repeat medications, please email the practice: Liverpoolpennylane@vets4pets.com stating your name and address, your pets name and the medication needed.
