Meet the team

Since qualifying from Liverpool University in 2013, I have worked as a vet in Wales, Australia and Leek before moving back home to Stoke on Trent to settle at Goldenhill Vets for Pets with my partner Alex. Having treated all types of animals, my favourite has always been a rabbit. Outside of work I enjoy playing netball and walking our dog. We have a scruffy cockapoo called Dooley who comes to work with us every day. Her main aim in life is to steal as many socks as possible!

I graduated from Liverpool University in 2014 and have worked in small animal practice in the UK and Australia. Kate and myself have been partners at Goldenhill Vets for Pets since July 2020 but have known each other since university. We travelled around Australia together and have settled in Stoke on Trent to be near family. I have always wanted to run a veterinary practice and have a particular interest in surgery. I enjoy cycling, golf and football outside of work. We both look after Dooley the naughty cockapoo and enjoy taking her for walks in the Peak district.

After graduating from the University of Nottingham I returned home to work in Cheshire. Having been a locum vet at Goldenhill for nearly a year, I made the move and went full time in December 2023. In work I have a keen interest in all things surgical. Outside of work, you will find me running or cycling in the peak district with my goldendoodle Jeff.

I have been veterinary nursing since 2013 and have worked at vets for pets Goldenhill since 2019. I recently became head veterinary nurse in 2022. My main role is to manage my team of nurses, create a balanced working environment so that the nursing team can run like a well-oiled machine. In general nursing, I particularly enjoy anaesthesia. In my spare time, I like to ride my ex-race horse, Jovi and socialise with friends. I have a cockapoo called peanut and cat named Loki.

I originally started Veterinary Nursing in 2006 but left to start a family. I restarted my Veterinary Nurse training in 2018 and qualified in 2021. I love being a Veterinary Nurse because no day is the same and I like to be able to provide nursing care to animals in their time of need. Outside of work I love spending time with my 2 children and hiking with my energetic German Pointer - Maggie.

Amie
Student Veterinary Nurse

I am a Registered Veterinary Nurse who graduated from Nottingham Trent University. I love being a Veterinary Nurse for many reasons, although I am particularly interested in anaesthesia and small mammal exotics. This stems from looking after my very spoiled rabbit named Thor who loves to cause chaos and eat everything he can! In my spare time I enjoy socialising with friends and seeing my favourite bands in concert.

I am married with lots of fur babies and 4 human babies. I have recently started working at Goldenhill Vets for Pets after almost 13 years being a house wife. I am also known as Mums taxi as we have very active children who enjoy playing sport and one even Shoots! In my spare time (what bit I get) I play netball and enjoy a good walk with our dogs. What is your favourite animal and why? It’s got to be a penguin, I find them fascinating, fun and gracious What Pets do you have and what are their names? We have 4 dogs – Bery, Fred, Bettsie & Pippa. 3 Cats – Mitsy, Iris and Dotty. 1 Hamster – Hammy. 1 Parrot – Molly. 4 Pygmy Goats Elvis, William, Fred and Sprinkles (all adopted). We also have 9 Geese, umpteen Ducks and Hens. What’s the best Pet name that you’ve ever come across? Elvis from when we adopted our goats, it just made me giggle especially when you see his moves What’s your favourite famous animal? Baloo from Jungle book Whats the best aspect of working at Vets for Pets? I really enjoy meeting people and I love animals so working here is perfect for me. Every day is different and you just never know who or what animal is going to come through the door.

Wendy Barrow
Receptionist

I have recently joined the team here at Goldenhill Vets for pets. I first started as a veterinary receptionist back in 2000 and have returned back to my roots after several years in a different role. I have a Yorkshire terrier cross called Lottie who loves being outdoors exercising, she especially loves running for miles alongside my husband and I on our mountain bikes. I love all animals but especially birds of prey, giraffes, tortoises and sloths.
