Originally from Barcelona, when I was a kid I always wanted to be a vet. After obtaining my degree in my home town in 1993, I dedicated 7 years to work for Nature conservation as the Director of a Wildlife Rehabilitation Hospital in Madrid (Falcons, eagles, vultures, owls, wolves, tortoises, snakes...you name it). in 2001 I moved to the UK to help with the Foot and Mouth Disease Outbreak and worked for the Department of Environment, Food and Rural Affairs for 3 years. Then I changed my career back again to my passion which is caring for all kinds of small companion animals. since 2011 I hold the General Practitioner Certificate of Exotic Animal Practice (ESVP) and I have worked as an OOH (out of hours) emergency vet for more than a year before opening the Vets4Pets Blackwood surgery where I am truly free to implement the high standards of pet and owner care I always wanted to. In my spare time I am a keen traveller, nature photographer, rock climber and DIYer. I also love humour, reading a good book and cooking. My second job is being a full-time servant of Mixu and Poochie, my feline masters. I really hope to see you at the clinic soon, where you will be assured to receive a warm and personal welcome from me and our fantastic team of professionals.

Hi My Name is Eva I have been with the practice since December 2023.  I moved from Caceres in South West Spain which is a region known for its food and history.  I now live close to the practice and I was made to feel very welcome by my colleagues and our customers.

At Home in Spain I have 2 dogs, a border collie and a mixed breed, I miss them very much and always look forward to my visits home.

I always wanted to be a vet for as long as I can remember.  I gained a love of animals from my father who wished that he could have been a vet.

The thing I like most about Wales is the people, they are very kind.  My least favourite thing is the rain, there is a lot of rain in Wales.

Hi my name is Ade and i joined the practice in March 2024.   I was born in Romania in an area which is famous for the mountains.  I now live close to the practice in an area which is very similar to my home town.

Before coming to the UK I was in a small animal practice in Romania very similar to Vets4Pets Blackwood.

Back home in Romania I have 4 rescue cats, The oldest one called apollo is hand reared as I found him abandoned when he was 2 weeks old, he is now the biggest of all my cats.

I enjoy hiking and watching sport, my favourite is football which I also like to play.

I like living in wales because the people are friendly and it reminds me of home, although it does rain a lot here. I also enjoy working with the team here at Blackwood as they are very friendly.

Hi My name is Elaine and I am very happy to be part of the team here in Blackwood since it opened in 2016. For as long as I can remember I always wanted to become a Veterinary Nurse and have spent my life looking after animals. Many years ago when I left school it was very difficult to find a training practice and I instead went to work with horses gaining my BHSAI in 1980.

After settling down and having a family I returned to work as a Veterinary Receptionist and was fortunate enough to be offered a training position and finally achieved my dream in 2013 and qualified as a Registered Veterinary Nurse.

My spare time is spent looking after my many animals which include Snakes, Frogs, Lizards and Tarantulas as well as some furry ones; cats, dogs and a Guinea Pig. A lot of my animals have come to me as rescues or strays. The rest of my time is spent walking my dogs in the hills around my home. I also enjoy photography and crafts.

Hi I'm Becci, I'm an RVN here at Vets4Pets. I finished my degree in 2012, where I studied behaviour & Welfare. I started here on reception and then became a VCA before completing my training as a registered nurse.   Previously I worked in doggy day care, as a dog walker and pet sitter. I also volunteered on an elephant rescue project in Thailand. I love animals!

I've had pets all my life and currently live with 3 house rabbits (Sketch, Duck & Rocket) who love to eat my furniture. I like to teach my rabbits tricks, they are very clever. I enjoy hiking with my parent's dog Bryn who is a Cavalier King Charles.  They also have 2 cats that I grew up with.

I always wanted to be a vet nurse, when I was little I used to pretend to make my soft toys better.

I love working here, everyone loves animals the way I do and there is a great family atmosphere.  Everyday is different and there are lots of opportunities for pet cuddles.

Veterinary Care Assistant

Hi I'm Beth,  I joined the practice as a Veterinary Care Assistant in June 2023. Prior to working here I've worked in quite a few different jobs over the last 10 years. I've always wanted to work with animals, so after leaving school I completed all my Small Animal & Reptile Care Diplomas at a small college in Cardiff, I then worked with reptiles for a few years - rehabilitating and rescuing, alongside completing my Equine Care & Management Diplomas at Usk College.

I've worked in different riding schools and livery yards while going through college, as well as pubs/bars and then retail in more recent years to help fund my education and to provide for my young daughter. It also meant I could spend more time doing what I love in my spare time - riding and being at the yard or the farm! I love to read as well and have quite an extensive collection of full bookshelves, thrillers/horror and fantasy are my go to! I've also managed to collect a small "zoo" of pets over the years (too many foster fails to count), comprising of cats, snakes, hamsters, guinea pigs, reptiles etc. so they and my daughter always keep me busy outside of work.

I really enjoy working here with everyone, I'm so glad I made the leap to move house and move my daughter and I up here to this area. The clients and pets we have here at the practice are great, my daughter and I couldn't be happier here and I'm so happy that I went back to my childhood goal of working with animals!

My name is Jasmine and I joined Vets4Pets Blackwood in April 2024 on a one year workplacement as part of my Nursing Degree at Usk College. Prior to this I completed a Bird of Prey Health and Longectivity course followed by an Animal Management Level 3 Course which was also at Usk College.  Once my placement is complete I will return to college for my practical assessment and then my Degree will be finished.

When not in work I spend time caring for my 2 fox hounds Oona and Jerry Lee and my 2 birds of prey a barn owl called Doodle Bug and a gyr hybrid called Valkyria.  I am a very keen bird owner and practice falconry which means that I travel around the country visiting centres and fayres.  I also did an internship for 2 weeks in the summer at a bird of prey centre in Germany.

I live close to the practice with my parents and my pets and I am really enjoying utilising the nursing skils I have learned in college in a real practice environment. So far the experience has been very enjoyable and I really like the fact that the team treat exotic patients as well as small animals as I find this particularly interesting.
