We are open for essential care only
In line with government guidelines, we are only offering medically essential appointments, so please contact the practice team before travelling. Our opening hours may also vary, so please monitor our webpage to keep up to date with the latest information.
We are taking steps to help keep you and our colleagues safe:
- If you do need to visit, we ask that only one person per pet comes along, to help reduce the number of people in the waiting area at any one time.
- Social distancing is crucial at this time. When arriving, you may be required to call ahead and wait to be invited in by a member of our team. You will be informed if this is necessary when you call us to make your appointment.
- Once inside the practice, we ask that you please respect a two metre distance from our colleagues and other clients.
- We are only accepting card payments to help minimise contact between you and our colleagues.
- If you can’t visit the practice and are concerned about your pet’s health, please contact us to discuss available options.
We will continue to share regular updates here and on our Facebook page. We thank you for your patience at this time.
Meet the team
I qualified from Liverpool University in 2003. After 18 months in a mixed practice in Bedford I moved back to the North East where I spent a year travelling and locumming. I then joined a small animal practice where I became senior vet. In 2009 I started locumming again until I opened the Kingston Park practice in 2012. In 2016 I then opened the Gateshead practice with my husband Mark.
My aim for the practices has always been to provide excellent patient care in a friendly, approachable environment where we can help owners make an informed choice about their pet's care. We're very much a family run practice so set ourselves high standards of care for our patients, clients and team.
I have a very holistic view of veterinary medicine and feel that all treatment plans should be tailored to a patient. I've been using acupuncture for a few years and have an interest in chronic pain treatment.
I’m Jacqui, I have worked in small animal practice since I graduated from Edinburgh Vet School in 2011. I love all aspects of clinical practice but have a special interest in surgical cases.
In my spare time I love spending time with horses and horse riding.
I have an ex-racing greyhound called Ryan who is the love of my life!
Melanie has been working in the North East since graduating from the University of Nottingham in 2012. She loves all part of her work but has a particular interest in ultrasound scanning and surgery. You may well meet her dog Douglas who sleeps behind reception during the day, he loves a cuddle!
Outside of work Melanie is very keen on travelling and tries to go somewhere different every year, when she can! She also enjoys going out walking, especially on the amazing beaches down the North East coast.
Charlotte has always had a passion for caring for animals and has been in the veterinary profession for over 8 years. She qualified as a Veterinary Nurse in 2014 & joined the Vets4Pets team in August 2016.
Charlotte has a keen interest in client education and animal behaviour and has a wide knowledge of all creatures great and small, including exotic species.
In her spare time she enjoys taking care of her dog Bhuna and horse Charm and spending time crafting in her hobby room.
Courtney moved to Essex to complete her Veterinary Nursing training, she has now returned back home to the North East. Courtney owns a very cheeky cat called Mr O’Malley who she rescued two years ago. Courtney will soon be carrying out her marine mammal training with the BDMLR.
Mark is the Practice Manager at both Gateshead and Kingston Park. Mark came on board full time when the decision was made to open Gateshead to help Samantha run the rapidly growing business.
Gateshead has become the sister practice to Kingston Park which opened its doors December-2012. A practice that is owned as with Gateshead by Samantha Sauer, Marks other half. Both Gateshead and Kingston Park are truly a family run business.
Marks aim as Practice Manager is to continue at Gateshead what has made and is continuing to make Kingston Park so popular with its clients. To create a place that provides a friendly, welcoming atmosphere where clients can make an informed choice about their pets’ care.
Outside of work Mark is a keen outdoor enthusiast. He is hoping once their daughter is old enough she too will follow their passion of climbing and hiking.
I'm Shelley, 46 years young and a receptionist here at Gateshead. I have completed a NVQ in administration and reception skills at Gateshead College, many moons ago!
Married with a teenager and a Siberian husky but not quite sure know who's the most moody one!!!! Likes walking, shopping, eating and drinking a few glasses of bubbly to socialise.
Rachael has worked on reception since our opening. An animal lover, she has three crazy cats at home and loves meeting everyone’s pets when they come to visit us. In her spare time she enjoys reading, keeping fit and is keen to travel and see new places.
Natalie works on reception. She has a keen interest in reptiles and owns 5 lizards. She has 4 dogs called Ruby, Roxy, Teddy and Bailey.
In her spare time she enjoys keeping fit and has competed in Total Warrior, Tough Mudder and Newcastle Stampede. In the future she wants to complete the national 3 peak challenge in 24 hours.
