Orthopaedics

Our veterinary team have undertaken advanced training to allow us to perform orthopaedic surgery in our practice. If your pet develops an abnormality involving their skeleton or joints, such as elbow dysplasia, a patella (kneecap) that gets stuck, or a torn cruciate ligament, an orthopaedic procedure may help them.

My name is Nikolay Radev and I am the JVP at Vets4Pets in Portishead. I graduated back in 2006 from the Trakia University in Bulgaria and also studied at a secondary veterinary school four years prior to that. I have done two large animal work experiences during my time at the University. Firstly, I spent 11 months working with large animals in Finland and then I spent 26 months in Morris, Minnesota working with pigs. When I came to the U.K. back in 2006 I initially worked with pigs again for 18 months. I started working as a small animal vet in September 2009 and I found it a lot more rewarding and enjoyable than being a farm vet. I enjoy being a veterinary surgeon as every day is different and brings a new challenge. Outside of work I enjoy the great outdoors, looking after my four year old daughter and taking her to the park when I am at home. I love football and have just started going to the gym.

My name is Mehmet Parlak, and I am a dedicated veterinary surgeon in Portishead with a strong passion for animal health and surgical excellence. I graduated in 2023 from Bursa Uludag University in Turkey, where I built a solid foundation in veterinary medicine and developed my clinical skills.
In early 2024, I moved to the United Kingdom and began working as an Official Veterinarian, focusing on both human and animal health. This role allowed me to contribute to public health initiatives while ensuring the welfare and safety of animals.
During my university years, I was always passionate about advancing my expertise in small animal veterinary care, focusing on providing personalized and compassionate treatment for pets. Driven by this passion, I transitioned to working as a veterinary surgeon in late 2024, dedicating my efforts to small animal care and enhancing my skills in this specialized field.

I have an amazing cat called Riško, who I rescued as a stray because he was in very poor shape. I have helped manage an animal shelter for a few years and fostered lots of animals, especially neonatal ones. When it comes to my hobbies I have too many to count. To name just a few, I horse ride and currently loan a pony, climb both lead and boulder, sing, tissue culture plants and many more.

I have been a nurse since June 2023, the best part of my job is being with the animals throughout thier whole journey, getting to know thier individual characters, gaining thier trust and being their voice.
In my spare time I enjoy gardening, sewing and outdoors with my two horses and four dogs.

A fun bit about me..I love mashed potato and jumping in muddy puddles!

My name is Henry. I studied Veterinary Nursing with Companion Animal Behaviour at the University of a Bristol. After graduating in 2023, I worked at Langford Veterinary Hospital for a year before moving to Vets 4 Pets Portishead. My favourite part of nursing is anaesthesia as there is always something to learn. Outside of work, I enjoy going to the gym, reading, indoor climbing, playing video games and taking my rescue dog Bowie on long walks, when I’m home

I'm Rhianna and I'm the Practice Manager here at Vets4Portishead. You'll probably see me most at the reception desk chatting away to our lovely clients getting to know them and their pets. I stepped into the veterinary reception role when we first opened at the start of 2018.

At home, I have a cat named Elsie who I absolutely adore. I love getting to meet the wide range of pets that we see within the practice, and the constant learning we have each day!
