Meet the team

I am from Rochdale and grew up in Milnrow, just a few miles from the practice so I know and love the area. I have worked exclusively in practices caring for family pets since I qualified from The University of Liverpool in 2005. I have a keen interest in all aspects of Veterinary Medicine and Surgery, especially cardiology, ultrasonography, dermatology, endocrinology (caring for patients with Diabetes, hyperthyroidism etc) and feline medicine. I also have an interest in small mammal medicine, especially rabbits and guinea pigs. I have a cat called Edith who came to me as a stray and a rescue dog called Joy who some of you might have met at the practice! I enjoy spending time with my two daughters, my partner Kris and his children and I enjoy walking, cycling, reading, camping and baking. Being part of the Vets4Pets family means we can offer value for money without cutting corners but being a small, local team means our clients see a familiar face providing their personal, friendly service. I love being a Vet and I really enjoy getting to know my patients and their families and I look forward to helping your pet stay healthy and happy.

Hi
My name is Nigel. I have over 37 years experience as a veterinary surgeon.
I spent much of my career working with Blue Cross in Hong Kong and then moving to London.
I enjoy travelling and like to incorporate this with my love of wild life.
I enjoy spending my time at home in the garden with my dog Twn. Twn has a very cheeky character and can sometimes been seen at work with me.

I love both internal medicine and surgery but my main interest is ophthalmology. I’m currently in my third and final year of a BSAVA postgraduate ophthalmology certificate. In my spare time I love to travel and spend time with my friends and boyfriend. I have a 1 year old cat named Lando, who was brought to our practice as a stray when he was only 6 weeks old. Both me and my boyfriend fell in love with him straight away.

I come from sunny Portugal, more precisely a city called Coimbra. I studied in a university in the north of Portugal called UTAD. I am a recent graduate and have a big interest in all things pathology related specifically into cytology. I also enjoy getting my hands into soft tissue surgery, ultrasound and would like to learn more about small mammals and endoscopy. When I'm out of work I take pleasure in going to concerts, drawing or painting and also in exploring nature. I have a cute 14 year old dog named Laika and a cat with a temper named Hayley. I hope that I can grow and become a great professional within the Vets4pets team in order to help more animals and their owners.

Hi, I'm Ruth. I'm a registered qualified veterinary nurse. I qualified and graduated from Plymouth university (Bicton College) in 2005. I have worked in both small and large animal practices. I love all aspects of nursing but my special interest is in medical nursing and nurse clinics.
In my spare time I love spending time with my husband Danny and my 2 boys. We have a rescue dog called Frankie that is 1 year old.

In 1993 I moved out to Lanzarote where she owned and ran a boarding kennels and cattery. These kennels were heavily involved with a stray animal rescue charity and, between the two of them, over 1000 dogs and 500 cats were successfully rehomed.
In 2007, I made the decision to move back to the UK, relocating to Middlesex. Here is where I began work as an animal nursing assistant. The following year, the opportunity to begin formal veterinary nurse training presented itself. I jumped at this chance and qualified in 2011 (at the age of 40, who said you can’t teach old dogs new tricks?!).
Whilst working down south, I rescued a Staffie cross named ‘Sausage’ who was brought into the surgery with severe facial damage. As a result of this, she still makes some of the strangest noises you will ever hear from a dog! Sausage comes into work with me most days and if you ever get to meet her, please don’t think she’s growling at you, the noises you here are a result of this previous injury!
In 2012, I returned home to my roots and took up a position with the Vet Group and I am now a proud member of our team here at Rochdale Vets4Pets. I has an avid interest in certain types of canine and feline behaviour, rabbit husbandry and welfare.

When Rochdale Vets4Pets opened in 2015 I started as a Veterinary Care Assistant/ Client Care Assistant. In 2016 I was given an amazing opportunity by the owners to study and become a Veterinary Nurse and I officially qualified as a Registered Veterinary Nurse in 2019. During the past three years I have honed my craft by working for a year in a Veterinary Hospital and completing various training in different areas of nursing to better service your pets and you.
Before I started working here at Rochdale Vets4Pets I had actually never owned a pet, since then I have had two rabbits, two dogs and a cat. I love animals of all shapes and sizes and want to help you help them, so pop in or give us a ring and we’ll be here to help.

"I'm a 2nd year veterinary nursing student, I have 1 more year till I fully qualify, I have 2 dogs at home and a hamster called Sir Sebastian, I'm looking forward to finishing my studies and work full time, I love all species but have a soft spot for the small animals such as hamsters, guinea pigs and bunnies 🐰🐹

I started as a CCA for Vets4Pets Rochdale March 2021. Working in the animal industry has always been a passion of mine since a young age.
My Favourite animals are Rabbits (although I do love all animals). I have 1 Rabbit called Benji who is nearly 8 years old.
I love meeting all your pets & being part of the family here at Vets4Pets Rochdale.
