We are open for essential care only
In line with government guidelines, we are only offering medically essential appointments, so please contact the practice team before travelling. Our opening hours may also vary, so please monitor our webpage to keep up to date with the latest information.
We are taking steps to help keep you and our colleagues safe:
- If you do need to visit, we ask that only one person per pet comes along, to help reduce the number of people in the waiting area at any one time.
- Social distancing is crucial at this time. When arriving, you may be required to call ahead and wait to be invited in by a member of our team. You will be informed if this is necessary when you call us to make your appointment.
- Once inside the practice, we ask that you please respect a two metre distance from our colleagues and other clients.
- We are only accepting card payments to help minimise contact between you and our colleagues.
- If you can’t visit the practice and are concerned about your pet’s health, please contact us to discuss available options.
We will continue to share regular updates here and on our Facebook page. We thank you for your patience at this time.
Meet the team
I qualified from Cambridge in 1989 and have spent 2 years in practice working in Wood Green Animal Shelters, Barry and Bridgend. In 1998 I became a partner at Swansea Vets4pets and we’ve built a great, well-established team here. I have many animals – dogs, cats, pigs, sheep, donkeys, turkeys, guinea pigs, rabbits, ducks, chickens, ferrets, pigeons and peacocks- all pets because I’m a vegetarian! When I’m not in work I enjoy knitting, reading, sewing, gardening and Egyptology (to name a few).
I am registered with the British Hen Welfare Trust as a chicken friendly vet.
Our practice is known for being especially pigeon friendly, so if you know of a pigeon in need, give us a call!
Nicky Townsend has been with the practice for 5 years after qualifying from Liverpool University. She has 4 dogs, 7 cats, numerous hamsters, rabbits, a guinea pig and a chinchilla. She is assisted in looking after all these animals by her young daughter, Erin. Nicky enjoys baking, gardening, sewing, knitting and crochet.
Patricia joined us as a Veterinary surgeon in 2018. She is originally from Madrid, Spain. Her spare time is spent travelling, dancing, cycling and spending time with friends.
Liz has worked in the practice since we opened in 1997! Liz is the cat advocate for our practice. She has 2 children and many animals including 2 dogs, 8 cats, 2 hamsters, 1 rabbit, 3 guinea pigs and 3 degu’s. Her spare time is spent walking, gardening and supporting the Cardiff Devils ice hockey team.
Ali has worked in first opinion, referral and emergency clinics. She has completed a certificate in emergency and critical care and wound management. She is also the clinical coach and is responsible for the training of student nurses. Ali has a dog called Maddie, cat Julius Julio, a bearded dragon, rats, gerbils, a hamster and 7 ex battery chickens. In her spare time she enjoys walking and candle making.
Maria has worked with us as a registered veterinary nurse since 2016, she started with us as a Student and loved it here so much that she decided to come and work with us once she had qualified from university. At home she has 2 rescue cats called Squish and Mavis. Outside of work she enjoys travelling, sewing and trying out new arts and crafts projects.
Gabby is our newest registered nurse to join the practice, she qualified the beginning of 2019 from the Royal Veterinary College. She has 2 pets, Bella a little Jack Russell and Nigel the hamster. In her spare time she enjoys the gym, socialising with friends and travelling.
Helen has been with the practice for 12 years and is in charge of administration and reception. At home she has two cats, Poppy and Dexter. In her spare time she is a member of girl guides, amateur dramatics society and she enjoys supervising her husband tending the garden.
Rachel has worked for us for 12 years. Before joining us she worked in the PDSA as a nursing assistant. Rachel has 2 dogs, Daisy and Lucky and Eric the parrotlet. Out of work she enjoys cooking, gardening and arts and crafts.
