Advanced services
We have invested considerably in our team and kit to make a number of advanced services available to our clients. We also accept referrals from other veterinary practices.
Endoscopy
We offer endoscopy to enable us to see inside your pet and perform internal procedures without the need for surgery.
Laser Treatment
Laser therapy is non-painful and involves directing infra-red radiation into inflamed or damaged tissues to accelerate the body’s natural healing process. It is often used for musculoskeletal issues such as arthritis, but the benefits of laser have been suggested for a range of conditions.
Ultrasound Imaging
We are pleased to be able to offer ultrasound scanning in practice, which is a painless way to look inside your pet’s body to find out what’s going on.
Laproscopic Spay
Laparoscopy is a minimally invasive surgical technique to explore the abdomen with two to three small ‘keyhole’ incisions. We are pleased to have invested considerably in our team and kit to make minimally invasive surgery available to our clients.
Orthopaedic surgery
Our veterinary team have undertaken advanced training to allow us to perform orthopaedic surgery in our practice. If your pet develops an abnormality involving their skeleton or joints, such as elbow dysplasia, a patella (kneecap) that gets stuck, or a torn cruciate ligament, an orthopaedic procedure may help them.
Dental Suite with X-Rays
We have a dental suite, which will soon include a dental X-ray. Unlike humans, dogs and cats need to be under general anaesthesia for dental X-rays. Anaesthesia is considered to be a safe procedure and will be performed after a general examination. It is tailored to the individual and your pet is continuously monitored during the dental exam.
Cardiology
If your pet develops a heart condition, we can support you and your pet at every step of the way, starting from diagnosis to ongoing care.
Pet Passports
Trained Official Veterinarian vets to issue Pet Passports, Fit to Fly letters and rabies serology tests.
Soft Tissue Surgery
We're able to provide surgical procedures involving the soft tissues such as ears and skin.

Since 2013, I have been proudly serving the Essex community through my two clinics, committed to providing high-quality care to pets and their families.

Dr Maria Theofylaktidou

MRCVS, Masters in Companion Animal Surgery
I graduated from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki in 2017 and attended a six-month postgraduate training in Diagnostic Laboratory and Cytology Department in 2018. The last six years I have worked in first- and second-opinion veterinary practices in Greece. I was really glad to join Vets 4 Pets team in 2023.
I achieved my Master’s Degree in Small Animal Surgery in 2023. My main interest at work is soft tissue surgery and critical care.
In my spare time, I like playing with my dogs Bobby and Oreo, going out with friends and playing chess.
Dr Maria Karatsinidou
Veterinary Surgeon
MRCVS, Masters in Companion Animal Anaesthesiology and Critical Care
I have studied Animal Science at Alexander Technological Educational Institute of Thessaloniki and worked two years as a vet assistant on first opinion practices.
My name is Dr. Alexandra Ionescu and I joined the Thurrock Vets for Pets team in September 2024 through the new graduate program. I was born and raised in Australia, and my academic journey began at Sydney University, where I studied a Bachelor of Animal and Veterinary Bioscience. I then transferred overseas to pursue my Doctor of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Agricultural Sciences and Veterinary Medicine in Cluj-Napoca, Romania.
My veterinary interests include surgery, dermatology, and oncology, and I’m excited to bring my knowledge and enthusiasm to provide the best care for your pets. Outside of work, I enjoy swimming, travelling with friends, and spending time with my two cats, Teeny and Tiny.
I have been in the Veterinary sector for 5 years and still each day is very different. I began my journey in Thurrock Vets4Pets in February 2021, I love my job and I really enjoy the medical side of the profession, watching patients get better is very rewarding. In the future I would like to extend my qualifications and persue a medical nursing certificate. My favourite animals are Whippets, Italian Greyhouds and I do have a soft spot for small furries. Currently on maternity leave.
I have been a qualified veterinary nurse for over 10 years now and still love that each day of work isn’t the same.I enjoy most aspects of the job but in particular I love kennel nursing and making animals feel comfortable whilst they’re away from home.I also have a soft spot for exotic pets/reptiles, my favourite being chameleons.I have attained many rescue animals over the years but I now have a very lazy British shorthair cat, called Penelope.

BVSc&AH GPCert (B&PS)First Aider and MHFA
I am a vet by profession and have decided to pursue my career as a practice manager. I qualified as a vet in the year 2000 and since then worked as a vet for short duration in a small animal clinic and for 5 years in an equine hospital. I've completed my graduate certificate in Veterinary business management and professional key skills in the year 2010 and I'm a certificate holder of European School of Veterinary Postgraduate Studies. I am currently working towards Associate CIPD and enjoying each unit of it.
I'm excited to be a part of the team at Vets4Pets Thurrock and looking forward to coming back to work after taking a long break to raise the kids. My favourite pet is a cat and outside work I'm interested in cooking, movies, music and spending time with my husband and kids.
Ellie Reynolds-Simmonds
Client Care Advisor /Veterinary Care Assistant
Animal Management Level 3 Extended Diploma, BVRA Member
My name is Ellie, I’m 18 and i’m one of our lovely Client Care Advisers here at Vets4Pets Thurrock! When i was 5 my mum brought home our first family cat, over the years she has always been my best friend. I now have 3 cat besties and couldn’t imagine my life without them. I have always loved animals since i was little and has it has been my dream to work in a veterinary practice for as long as i can remember. In 2020 i started my animal journey and received a level 3 qualification in Animal Management! My endless love and care for animals has led me to aspire to be a veterinary nurse and cannot wait to fulfil this.
I’ve recently joined the Thurrock practice on reception. I have worked within the veterinary world for the past six years and I have loved meeting all the pets and their owners.
I have always loved animals and three little Bichon Frise dogs were a massive part of my life. After losing these three dogs to old age (one of my boys was almost 18 years old) I vowed never to have another dog.
I spent time pet sitting family and friends dogs and during lockdown of 2020, I fostered an abandoned puppy who was found dumped in a box with his litter mates. I saw him go from skinny and shy to this bounding full of life, healthy and happy puppy... I failed at fostering him and he became officially adopted three months later!!!
