Meet the team

I wanted to be a vet from a very young age, having always had a deep love of animals and was also no doubt inspired by the regular Sunday night appearance of Christopher Timothy as James Herriot, being beamed into the family living room.
I studied veterinary medicine at Liverpool University, an intensive five years of rigorous training and testing, graduating in 1999. I moved quickly into my first role as a small animal veterinary surgeon and have worked continuously in the profession ever since.
In 2019 I took over as practice owner at Vets for Pets Oldham which has been a fantastic experience. Unlike other large groups, the Vets for Pets model gives me complete clinical freedom to operate the practice based on my years of experience in exactly the same way as I would a small independent practice, but with a wealth of backend support that allows me to put a much greater focus on clinical excellence and customer service.

I was born in Oldham and met my wife Barbara at university. We married in 2000 and have lived in the borough for most of our married life. We love the area, particularly the abundance of beautiful countryside walks, where we take fifth family member, Border Collie Isabelle, on regular excursions. We raised our two sons here, both getting involved in many local activities, most notably with the Oldham Music Service. We’ve proudly watched them perform at many local events, with our youngest now regularly performing in brass competitions, including the Saddleworth and Oldham Whit Friday Band Contests.
My wife Barbara bought the Vets for Pets Oldham practice at the end of 2019 (just before the Pandemic hit and the world went in to lock down). Our vision was to build a practice that provided great clinical care for the patients, great client relationships and was a great place to work. Something I believe we have succeeded in doing, mostly down to the hard work of Barbara and the rest of our fantastic dedicated team.
I officially joined the practice in 2021 as Practice Manager, taking over some of the non-clinical duties from Barbara and allowing her to spend more time with patients and clients. We are really proud of the practice and the team we have assembled.
