I earned my qualification in Glasgow back in July 1989, which feels like a lifetime ago. It's truly remarkable that my passion for becoming a vet, a dream I had since primary school, has remained unwavering for nearly five decades.

I'm happily married to Neil and proudly embrace the role of being a stepmother to his two sons and three grandchildren. Our home is filled with the delightful presence of Umbra and Titian, our seven-year-old Maine Coon cats, as well as Morpheus, the elderly stray cat who's surprisingly good at getting attention from kids in the neighborhood. Our furry family also includes Bellatrix, a six-year-old cavapoochon, and Storm, our lively two-year-old flat-coated retriever. And let's not forget our clever school of around ten fish who keep us entertained and on our toes!

Hi, I’m Katie and I am a Registered Veterinary Nurse at Preston Capitol Vets4pets.

I have worked here since 2017, originally starting as a receptionist. I then studied to become a Veterinary Care Assistant before completing my diploma in Veterinary Nursing and qualifying in 2021.

After this I completed the ISFM certificate in Feline Nursing and finished this with a distinction. I am now studying the ISFM Advanced Feline Behaviour for Veterinary Professionals course. I am trying to use the knowledge I have gained to make the clinic a cat friendly environment and to enable me to advise people on how to understand their cats and make a suitable environment for them.

I really enjoy working at this practice. We have a fantastic team and I enjoy the variety of things we do every day. As a nurse we admit and discharge the patient’s having surgery each day, monitor anaesthesia, provide inpatient care, do consultations, provide support to reception by answering phones and ensure the practice is cleaned to a high standard. It is a varied role and I enjoy meeting clients and getting to know them and their pets and assisting them throughout their journey together.

I have 3 cats at home – Hugo, Tizzy and Saffron.
