Meet the team

Middlesbrough Cleveland Park V4P Sophie Cloney

Dr Sophie Cloney

Owner & Veterinary Surgeon

I graduated from Glasgow Veterinary School in 2010 and have worked in a variety of practices across the UK ranging from large animals to charity and locum work. I am now very excited to be opening my very own practice alongside my husband, Andy.

We met while at university and married in 2013 and now plan to combine our knowledge and experience to create a professional, caring environment for our clients where every patient is treated as if they are our own. Family values are extremely important to us and we want our patients to feel at home when they come to visit whether for a consultation or when recovering as inpatients.

Surgery and Emergency and Critical Care are particular interests of mine in which I intend to pursue further qualifications in the near future. I also enjoy treating wildlife brought to us by local charities like the RSPCA. It is so rewarding to rehabilitate an animal and see them recover enough to be set free again. Any are welcome here - all creatures great and small!

At home I am kept busy with our menagerie of animals some of which you can find starring in our new practice photos! Our multitude of pets keep us well occupied and are integral members of the family. Outside of work I like to keep active, walking the ‘pack’ on the beautiful North Yorkshire Moors is a particular favourite pastime but you can also find me doing a bit of boxing or dancing when time permits. I am also a passionate music lover and enjoy playing the piano, singing and relaxing listening to my favourite songs on a Sunday evening. Gardening is another big part of my life during the spring and summer months when I like to grow an array of fruit and vegetables in my garden in addition to our selection of over 20 varieties of chilli plants.

As you can see life can be pretty busy but I wouldn't change it for anything!

Middlesbrough Cleveland Park Andrew Cloney

Dr Andrew Dennis Cloney

Owner & Veterinary Surgeon

I graduated from Glasgow Vet School in 2011. Whilst at University I developed a passion for exotic animal medicine and surgery. I have worked in a variety of practices across the country, including first opinion small animal practices, 24hr hospitals and an exotics referral hospital in central London. I am now absolutely delighted to be opening my own practice with my wife Sophie.

I am currently studying towards a certificate in Exotic animal Medicine and Surgery. I enjoy treating a wide variety of animal species including reptiles, exotic mammals, parrots and fish, however I am particularly fond of snakes.

Sophie and I want to create a friendly and welcoming practice, which prides itself on a high level of care for ALL species.

When we are not working, Sophie and I are likely to be doing something with our own mini-zoo at home! We love taking the dogs on long walks at the beach or over the moors then back home to relax in the garden.

If I’m not doing something animal related then you are likely to find me on the golf course (probably in the trees looking for my ball).

We all look forward to seeing you at the practice so why not pop in and pay us a visit.

Registered Veterinary Nurse

I have been working in veterinary practices since I was 16, I then went on to complete an NVQ in Animal Care before moving on to a Pre Veterinary Nursing qualification and finally my Veterinary Nurse training at Myerscough College, qualifying as an RVN in 2006. I have recently become a Clinical Coach, which means I am able to assess students within practice.

I am married to Chris who thankfully shares my love of animals, we have 3 children, 4 dogs, Conan, a crossbreed who is in his senior years, Cookie the Cockerpoo, Casper a rescue staffy x, Alfie a rescue GSD & Teefa the rescue tortoise. Our home is certainly not quiet but I wouldn't want it any other way.

I am looking forward to being part of a fantastic team at Cleveland Park and cannot wait to give lots of cuddles to our lovely patients.

Registered Veterinary Nurse

I graduated from the Royal Veterinary College in 2014 after completing a 4 year course to achieve a Bachelor of Science Honours degree in Veterinary Nursing. I completed my practical training at a mixed practice where I gained experience nursing both small and large patients where I then worked for a further 2 years after qualifying. After realising my love for caring for small animals and wanting to fulfil a career working alongside exotics, I took on the role here at Vets4Pets Cleveland Park in June 2016.

I love all aspects of veterinary nursing but consulting has to be my favourite. I love interacting with both clients and patients whilst caring and treating for your furry family members. I am also a clinical coach here at the practice where I enjoy training our student veterinary nurses and veterinary care assistants.

In my spare time I enjoy spending time with my family, friends and fur babies. I have a springer spaniel called milo who is very lazy however he does love a nice long walk over the moors. I also spend a lot of my time at the stables with my big friendly giant of a horse Sailor. We are happy hackers and love nothing more than spending our spare time having a long ride in the countryside.
