Meet the Canterbury Sturry Road Team

Craig Mitchell

Owner & Veterinary Surgeon

“Vet and owner working together for a common goal - giving your pet the longest, happiest and healthiest life possible.”

I graduated from the University of Liverpool in 2009 where I achieved a pass with distinction in small animal, large animal and equine studies.

I was originally born in Essex (but don’t let that put you off!) and moved to the beautiful county of Kent with my partner Amy after graduating from vet school. I have worked locally around Canterbury for the last 6 years. My team is well established and we have worked well as a close group of friends and colleagues for the last 2 1/2 years before setting up the practice.

I own a rescue dog called Alfie and rabbit named Yoda! As a pet owner I understand that every pet is a much loved member of the family and I treat every patient as such. In my spare time I enjoy country walks and putting my feet up in front of the TV with a takeaway!

Owner & Registered Veterinary Nurse

"We are a small family feel team so you’ll be sure to see the same faces each time – not only is this good for continuity of care but we really get to know you and your pets!

It’s  hard to believe I have been a qualified nurse for 22 years! Time really does fly when you’re having fun! I have worked in several practices including a referral hospital as head nurse and more recently at Companion Care in Wincheap.I am now looking forward to a new challenge as joint partner at the Vets4Pets Canterbury Sturry Road surgery.

Many of our existing clients are people we have known for years and appreciate the core values we stand for – compassion, integrity and transparency. We are looking to extend our “family” of clients and reach out to the local community as a whole!

I have 2 bouncy dogs, Freddie and Mabel that keep me busy whenever I am not working!

Veterinary Surgeon

I graduated from Cambridge University in 2016 and after a short summer off to recuperate , I entered mixed practice. I soon felt I'd done my fair share of wrestling with cattle, sheep & horses who all seemed to be plotting new & imaginitive ways to squash , kick & cover me in something unmentionable.

I quickly found my love of small animal medicine and really enjoy spending time in the consult room getting to know people & their furry family members.

I have been working with Craig & Shelly & the vets4pets team since July 2017 & really do feel priviliged to be able to work with such a great bunch of people.

I have a particular interest in internal medicine , imaging & behaviour.

When I'm not at work i'm usually home with my menagerie of animals; 2 horses, chickens, pigeons & my lovely (and very naughty) rescue dog casper... aka Mr Schnuckles.

“Providing high standards of care for you and your pet is my number one priority”

Hi I'm Felicity. I have worked with Shelly for over 20 years so I am thrilled to be part of this exciting new practice! Since qualifying in 1998 I have worked within various referral disciplines giving me vast experience in all aspects of veterinary care – medical nursing is my passion! I also work closely with “pets as therapy” charity.

I am a mum to two children and have Jeffrey, my 12 year old (tail-less!) rescue cat and bubbles the guinea pig.

“Our recommendations have your pets best interests at heart. We’re there to help because we care.”

I've been a veterinary nurse for nearly ten years. During this time I have worked all over England and even spent time in Australia where I cared for possums, echidnas and kangaroos! I have decided to take a break from travelling and concentrate on the more common species we share our homes with!

When I'm not working I'm usually spending time with my mischievous pet Monkey…(He's a cat!)

Jade Arlott

Veterinary Care Assistant

I have always wanted to work with animals since I was a child, I initially started working at Vets4pets as a volunteer enabling me to complete my Veterinary Care Assistant qualification in my spare time.

I was over the moon when I was offered a permanent postion at the practice, as I love being part of the Sturry Road Team, who have made me feel really welcome and helped me start the journey of my Veterinary career.

My caring, friendly nature means I find it really rewarding helping to take care of the animals at Vets4Pets and forming professional relationships with their owners

In my spare time I enjoy walking my two black labradors Gem & CJ, and Gem has helped save lives on several occasions as she is a blood donor dog for the practice.

“A friendly face connecting you to the highest standards of veterinary care ”

I have been a veterinary receptionist for the last 4 years and an employee of Pets at Home for 5 year prior. I love getting to know owners and their pets and helping in any way I can. Recently I have been nominated for the prestigious award of Petplans “Receptionist of the year”.

My partner and I own a cute little Yorkshire terrier who we rescued called Lily. In my spare time I enjoy keeping fit and making Victoria sponges for cake sales!

Registered Veterinary Nurse

Working with animals has always been my passion, but I have a special place in my heart for our feline friends.

I have been working in a Veterinary Surgery since 1998 where I initially met & worked with Shelly & Felicity . Shelly helped with my Vet Nurse training and to qualify in 2002.

I absolutely love all animals but I have a special interest in cats & am known as the cat whisperer here at Sturry Road, meow!

I enjoy training student nurses and am currently mentoring Jade as she trains for her qualification as a Veterinary Nursing Assistant.

I love working with all the team here and providing a fantastic service for all the lovely pets that visit us.
