Susan Macfarlane MRCVS
Owner & Veterinary Surgeon
I was born in East Kilbride, in fact I went to school down the road from the practice in Mossneuk. Opening the practice feels almost like a home coming, my grandparents ran a small business in the Westwood for many years, so I'm actually second generation East Kilbride!
I generally spend my free time outside. My beloved border collie, Inda, was a graduation present and still loves going out and exploring the parks and countryside. She's now retired from agility, flyball, and her role as a PAT dog, she spent time in Rosaburn care home in Lindsayfield, opposite the practice. She still comes to the practice and continues her important role as chief recreational manager and toy tester.
The rest of my free time is spent on horseback. I enjoy the mental and physical challenges of long distance endurance riding. Last year I entered the Man V Horse race around Loch Ness. BM and I finished 7th which I thought was pretty good for a first attempt.
Professionally I love a medical case that I can work through, I think it's the same mental challenges as long distance riding, perseverance and patience are critical. I'm working towards a RCVS designated advanced veterinary practice certificate in feline medicine.
