Vets4Pets Grantham

Meet the Grantham vet team

James Cook VetMB, MA, BSc (hons), MRCVS

Practice Owner and Veterinary Surgeon

I qualified from Cambridge in 2006, starting out in mixed practice. I soon realised I much preferred staying warm rather than going out to a farm in the middle of the night (!) and gave my career dedicated focus to companion pets in 2008. Since then I have developed myself extensively in medicine and am now lending new focus to developing the surgical service offered at our practice, specifically in orthopaedics.

Seeing how the practice has evolved since Karen and I set it up together in 2013 is immensely satisfying. I am proud to work alongside a hugely dedicated and caring team of vets, nurses and support staff who try their best every day to look after your pets.

The practice is now accredited to the highest standards offered by the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons and I look forward to watching it continue with its enormous success in the future.

Karen Cook VetMB, BA, BSc (hons), MRCVS

Practice Owner and Veterinary Surgeon

I qualified in 2008 from Cambridge, where I met James and after a year in mixed practice, I decided that I wanted to concentrate on small animals. I grew up in and around Grantham and we decided to settle back here after having children. By having our own practice, we are able to practice to the high standards that we set and give the best care that we can to our patients and clients. I enjoy the challenge of medical cases but am also interested in soft tissue surgery

Pets - 3 cats; Molly, Spider and Daphne

Melanie Teasdale

Practice Manager and Qualified Veterinary Nurse

I started my nursing career after qualifying in 2008. I became a member of the team earlier in 2014 after working in a busy veterinary hospital. Working in a veterinary hospital allowed me to develop my skills in critical care, intensive nursing and management.

In 2012 myself and my husband travelled New Zealand where I was fortunate enough to work in a rural veterinary practice where I was involved in lots of different and interesting cases. I returned after maternity leave to my veterinary nurse role after having a little girl but also took on the proud position as Practice Manager.

I have a keen interest in animal behaviour, rabbit care, management along with patient and client care.

Outside of work I enjoy spending time with my family and friends alongside a passion of watching Formula One!

Pets: Dylan the Weimaraner and two cats Marvin and Myrtle.

 Veterinary Surgeon

I qualified from the University of Nottingham Vet School in 2016 and recently joined Grantham Vets4Pets.

My favourite part of work is definitely getting to cuddle all my patients! Diagnostics, surgery and seeing my patients come back healthy, are all things I look forward to at work.

When not at work, I like to cook for friends, breakout from escape rooms and go geocaching. On the rare occasion of a holiday, I like to travel to exotic places to go surfing.

Pets - the spider that lives in my kitchen? (my landlord doesn’t allow pets #devastated)

Fiona Elnor

 Veterinary Surgeon

I qualified from the RVC in 1994 and have worked in Lincolnshire ever since. I joined the team in August 2018 and am really enjoying getting to know our clients and their lovely pets. My interests include soft tissue surgery and anaesthesia.

I live locally on a farm with my husband Steve, son Ben, border Collie Josh, border terrier Terry, 4 ginger cats, sheep, cattle and chickens. In my spare time I help out on the farm, both with animals and our glamping site, I enjoy watching my son play football, entertaining friends and walking the dogs in our beautiful Lincolnshire countryside.

Sarah Brown

Registered Veterinary Nurse

I started at Vets4Pets Grantham in September 2014. Before working here, I used to work at a soft play centre for children. They say never work with children or animals, so I decided to do both!

After school I went to Brooksby agricultural college and got two diplomas in animal care and then worked for the Ministry of Defence looking after the military working dogs!

I started initially on reception but started my veterinary nurse training so will be found in the consult room instead.

When I get spare time, which isn't often, I spend time with my son, Cole, and my husband, Rich, and I love taking long walks with my dog Luna. I also like getting stuck into a good book, catching up with my friends over a cheeky drink or two or just relaxing.

Pets: Niska the cat and black labrador Luna who is five but doesn't act like it!

Leanne Sterry

Veterinary Nurse Assistant

I started at Grantham Vets4Pets in May 2016 as a Veterinary Nurse Assistant. My ultimate goal is to one day become a qualified veterinary nurse.

Outside of work I enjoy spending time with my friends and family. My pets include Bailey, Billy and Bonnie who are my cats and Buster my dog. I also have two Guinea Pigs named Baxter and Barnaby and three fish Brian, Bruce and Betty.

I have been with Vets4Pets Grantham since Nov 2015 and am thoroughly enjoying it.  When not at work, I’m currently studying towards a Psychology Degree.  I am a practicing counsellor and have been for the last 5 years, so when I'm not talking to the animals, I do tend to talk to people! I enjoy cycling and reading.

Pets: chihuahua Oscar, Yorkshire terrier Lulu and three-legged cat Guy.

This is my first actual job with animals although over the years my family have had various pets including hamsters, horses, koi carp and canaries. When not working I enjoy walking my dogs, going to the theatre and meeting up with friends.

Pets: Molly my nine year old Rottweiler and Binks who is about six years old and is of mixed parentage from the streets of Oxford.
