Meet the Maidenhead vet team

Maidenhead Vets4Pets Anthony Emley

Dr. Anthony Emley
BVMedSci BVM BVS(Hons) MRCVS

Owner and Veterinary Surgeon

I have always wanted to be a vet so when I was offered a place at Nottingham vet school I was overjoyed. Nottingham really prepared me for veterinary life as there was a strong focus on practical skills all the way through training. After graduating I worked at a busy practice in Woodley, Reading, for three years. This gave me a great start to working life as with so many cases I was able to develop as a vet quickly. It gave me a proficiency in surgery and highlighted that this is where my passion lies. It also gave me great exposure to a diverse range of medical cases.

After three years I started locum work around Oxfordshire and Berkshire allowing me to work in a variety of practices. Through this I gained a lot of experience working on my own and also improving my diagnostic imaging skills being able to use ultrasound machines on a daily basis. It also gave me the drive to open my own practice feeling that I was now ready and a competent and well-rounded vet.

After a few months of locum work I was given the opportunity to open Maidenhead Vets4Pets. This gives me the ability to run the practice the way I want, strive for the best level of care and spend enough time with each client. It also gives the added support from Vets4Pets to help in the non clinical aspects of running a practice like tax returns!

When I’m not working I spend most of my time with my spaniels Sam and Waffle. They are both starting to compete in dog agility, although are painfully slow learners. They will never compete at Crufts but at least agility wears them out mentally and is great exercise. Sam has recently won his first rosette too! I enjoy all forms of sport and hold a black belt in Taekwon-do.

Opening Vets4Pets Maidenhead is highly exciting. We have an incredible team of nurses and receptionists and I hope the passion for animals we have comes across to everyone we meet. I look forward to meeting you!

Veterinary Surgeon

HI am Scarlet, I am a veterinary surgeon and I joined the team in December 2015. I qualified from the Royal Veterinary College and previously worked in South West London where I grew up.

I own 2 cats called Batcat and Pudding and a terrier cross which I rescued called Norman. I

currently live in a house full of reptiles, exotics and dogs, which is wonderful. I grew up with dogs, and my childhood pet Cookie, is a 15yr old Brussels Griffon who remained in London with my parents, and is the love of my life!!

I love working with Anthony and the team, especially as we have state of the art blood machines, a digital x-ray and ultrasound machine. The team here are brilliant, and it feels like fun more than work most days. I will be starting my exotic animal certificate in January 2017 so should be equipped to deal with fur, feathers and scales!! I do however love seeing cats and dogs, and have a particular interest in dentistry, inflammatory bowel disease, and medicine cases in general.

Looking forward to meeting you all!

Head Veterinary Nurse

My career started with two weeks work experience, when I was 16 years old, at a small animal surgery in Bedfordshire, from this I was offered an opportunity to train as a Veterinary Nurse. I qualified in 2003 gaining my NVQ level 2 and 3 in Veterinary nursing. I have been very fortunate in the past 17 years to have worked in various surgeries with some amazing vets and nurses. I have worked in both specialist hospitals, including the Royal Veterinary College and first opinion practice. At the RVC I was based in the neurology ward and rehabilitated dogs and cats recovering from brain and spinal procedures. This included physiotherapy and hydrotherapy. Since then I have spent a year 2013-2014 in Sydney Australia where I worked at referral hospitals as a specialist medicine nurse. I very much enjoy educating our clients on various subjects. I will be available for nurse clinics where I can share my knowledge.

Outside of work I enjoy socialising with friends and I’m currently very busy planning my wedding in July. I will also be getting a puppy after the wedding which I hope to train and compete in agility.

Registered Veterinary Nurse

In 2015 I joined the team as a Student Veterinary Nurse. In June 2016

I graduated from the University of Coventry with Merit and am now pleased to call myself a Registered Veterinary Nurse. I am also a Clinical Coach so it’s my job to ensure that the student nurses reach the required practical standards.

My main interests lay within surgery and am hoping to further my knowledge and experience in this field. In my spare time I enjoy horse riding and having cuddles with my cat Willma.

Registered Veterinary Nurse

I have always had a love for animals since a very young age, which is why, when i left school, I knew my vocation was to become a veterinary nurse.

After leaving school i studied animal management at BCA which got me a position in a veterinary practice, where I trained and qualified in 2014.

I've had an array of animals growing up including mice, hamsters, dogs, rabbits and a horse. I enjoy consultations, meeting all the different patients and clients that walk into the practice, and I have a very keen interest in dermatology.

At home i look after my 1 year old daughter, Ava (and my partner of course!) and i enjoy socialising with my friends, going to the stables and making many trips to Norfolk where i have family. I look forward to meeting you and your pets!

I am currently studying Fdsc Veterinary nursing at Nottingham Trent. I have always wanted to be veterinary nurse right from when I was little. I’ve been brought up with animals throughout my life. At the moment I have 4 rabbits, 2 dogs, one is a GSD x Lab and the other is a Flatcoated retriever. I also have a cat name smudge and Giant African land snail.

I went to Berkshire Agriculture and studied Animal Management level 3 Diploma. I have worked in a number of practices whilst being a student veterinary nurse, I am looking forward to doing my final year of placement at Vets4pets in Maidenhead.

In my own time I like to spend time with my 3yr old brother, I also like to go on long walks with my best friend and watch movies.

Lynette

Reception Manager

I have worked in animal practices since 1986, from Hampshire to Lincolnshire and I am really excited about working at the new Vets4Pets surgery in Maidenhead.

I have the pleasure of meeting many wonderful and much loved pets and enjoy seeing the recovery progress of patients with memorable cases.

I am privileged to be working with a wonderful team, who are very supportive towards my learning about animals and their needs. My job as receptionist here is a total dream and my aim is to make sure that every experience you and your pets has with us is second to none. If you have any questions the Vets4Pets team is ready to help, you will find me mostly on reception assisting our clients but also I love getting behind the scenes helping our patients and beloved pets.

I am excited to announce that we will be starting Puppy Socialisation Classes here at the surgery which I will be involved in.

I have two lovely Labradors, Ruby and Elsie and spend lots of quality time walking around the beautiful Berkshire countryside, especially if there is a pub at the end of it!

Jo

Receptionist

After having been a receptionist for many years for a building services company, I moved into the retail sector four years ago. I saw the position of veterinary receptionist as a chance to combine my reception and customer service skills and haven’t regretted it for one minute.

I am very lucky to work with such a happy and dedicated team and even though I joined later they have made me feel very welcome and I already feel part of the Vets4Pets family.

When I’m not at work I like to learn about local history and roam the beautiful Devon Countryside with my partner Terry.

I am looking forward to passing on my new found knowledge of preventative vaccines, routine animal care including flea and worm treatments. So if you have any questions or concerns regarding your pet feel free to pop in or call us.

Myself and the reception team look forward to welcoming you to our practice.

Receptionist

Working with animals has always been a passion of mine, and I have persued this through education at Berkshire College of Agriculture (BCA) where I gained a level 3 Extended Diploma in Animal Management. I built on the skills I had learnt to then went on to complete a Foundation Degree in Animal Behaviour and Welfare at the college. While studying for my Degree I gained employment at the college where I worked with a range of Zoo and British wildlife animals, allowing me to gain knowledge and experience.

I am very lucky to be working with a great team who are dedicated to looking after animal’s health and welfare. I have been working at the practice since April 2016, and the staff here have made me feel very welcome. I genuinely love being able to help clients and their pets with all of the queries that they may have.

In my spare time I like to go on long walks, watch movies and look after my cheeky hamster, Bruce.

Receptionist

I have always wanted to work with animals since I was little and loved being around them, so was really happy to have the chance to do some work experience at my local vet when I was 15.

Since then, I have always tried to keep animals a part of my life and to include them as much as I could. While I was travelling,

I volunteered with a wide range of animals aboard, including lions and elephants, which made my trips even better.

When I am not working, I love to spend my time with family and friends especially my little (not so little) dog Max, who is a Labrador crossed with a Spanish Water Dog.

My main goal is to start studying animal behaviour in the New Year and am very lucky to be a part of a lovely team that will help and support me through this.
