Paisley Pheonix Vets4Pets Alemu Shewakena

Alemu Shewakena MRCVS

Owner & Veterinary Surgeon

Since graduating in 1996 I have worked all over the UK, mainly in Wales, West Yorkshire and the Glasgow area. I started my career in mixed practice treating cattle, sheep, horses, cats and dogs, before moving to a large veterinary referral hospital in Leeds. I have a passion for excellent animal care and customer service which I look forward to bringing to Companion Care Linwood. When I am not working I enjoy spending time with my family and days out in the Scottish countryside!

Julian Beazley BVM&S MRCVS

Veterinary Surgeon

Since qualifying from the Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies in Edinburgh in 2001, I practiced initially as a mixed animal vet in the London suburbs, then as a solely small animal vet when I moved to Glasgow in 2007. I have 2 rescued cats, Ocelot aged 12 and Erik aged 2 who rule my flat. I enjoys maintaining and driving my old VW Golfs, getting out into the Highlands for some walking and camping, socialising and travelling.

Anne Kerr

Veterinary Care Assistant

Hi my name is Anne, I have been working in the veterinary world since 2005. I love all animals but I am a dog person. I have a handsome Staffordshire Bull Terrier called Xander who is very friendly and a bit mad. I joined the Linwood team in November 2013 and I am looking forward to getting to know everyone.

Doron Toshner, MRCVS

Veterinary Surgeon

Before training as a veterinary surgeon, I was a professional tennis player and a flight attendant. I have lived all over the world, mainly staying in Italy, Germany, Israel and Scotland. As an avid gym go-er I try to go often after work to keep in shape.

I speak four languages which help me in my consultations. I joined the Vets4Pets team in 2016. My dream would be to work with lions and wildcats.

My dog, Henry and cat, Caterina are still in Germany and I hope to bring them over later in the year to join me.

Fiona Wilson

Registered Veterinary Nurse

I graduated from Edinburgh Napier University in 2015 with a degree in Veterinary Nursing. I am trained in small animal care however I have a passion for exotics and would like to specialise in the future. I have worked in the Linwood practice since 2012 from student to qualified nurse and was ecstatic when Alemu offered me a permanent position.

I am a trained Clinical Coach which means I help train veterinary nursing students in practice. Outside of work I love to travel and I have three house bunnies, Buffy, Ozzy and Maggie. I also have a Corn snake, Ivan.

Ruth Preston

Registered Veterinary Nurse

I have been at Linwood Vets4Pets since April 2016. Later in the year, I graduated from SRUC Barony Campus with an HND in Veterinary Nursing. I am a trained Clinical Coach which means that I can help to teach any vet nurse students we have with us on placement.

Outside of work, I enjoy travelling, horse riding and playing rugby. I have a Highland Pony called Ben who always loves to be covered in mud.

Both Ben and I are from Oban, but we moved down to the Helensburgh area in 2006.

Veterinary Nursing Assistant

I have been working in the veterinary world since 2005 and joined the Linwood team in 2013 as a veterinary care assistant. I have a love for dogs, particularly big dogs and my Staffordshire Bull Terrier Xander who is very friendly and a bit mad.

On my days off I love to spend time with my sister and daughter out for meals and going to concerts. In the future I would like to open my own kennels as a pet boarding business and rescue.

Amanda McCool

Student Veterinary Nurse

I joined Vets4Pets as a receptionist in 2015 and a year later I started a veterinary nursing course with the College of Animal Welfare, training at the practice.

I hope to qualify in 2018 and perhaps pursue further training in small animal medical nursing. At home I have a rabbit named Thor and adopted my other rabbit Gimli through the practice.

Hayley Ainslie

Head Receptionist/Animal Nursing Assistant

I am a qualified animal nursing assistant currently working as a receptionist during the week and as a nursing assistant at the weekends. I have a love for the outdoors and can often be found hill walking with friends on my days off photographing the countryside.

I am the practice crazy cat lady with a love for our feline friends and hope to focus my future training around them.

I am delighted to be working as receptionist at Vets4Pets Paisley Phoenix. I am married with one son who is a personal fitness trainer based in Aberdeen. I have worked for over 30 years with horses as a coach and trainer of young race horses and event horses.

I have two dogs – Keira, a German Shepherd and Monty a Jack Russell from Cyprus, he is bi-lingual understanding commands in Greek and English.

Kelly McPherson

I am one of the receptionists here at vets4pets and have been since March 2016. For a short period time I studied Veterinary nursing at university but made the decision to leave and I am now happily working here where I still get to socialise and interact with animals every day.

At home I have a mental border collie, Cookie and a wee black and white moggie called Jet and in the future I hope to get a Shetland sheepdog to add to my family of pets.

Outside of work you will usually find me on nights out, socialising with friends or having chill time with my pets and my sister’s mini daschund Nelly.
