Stockton Veterinary Surgeon Mark Buxton

Mark Buxton

Veterinary Surgeon & Owner

What is your favourite animal and why?

A close call but probably dogs as they are very faithful and you can go for long runs in the hills with them for company!

What are your hobbies?

I've been a rock and ice climber for about 12 years and I've been lucky enough to climb in some beautiful places. Scotland is my favourite but I've done trips all over the UK and the French Alps, Peruvian Andes, Laos, New Zealand and Australia.

Nowadays, with a young family, I don't really get much time for climbing but I've swapped to Fell Running. It's an awesome sport and I still can't believe that it's possible to run up hills and mountains - but it is!

What pets do you have and what are their names?

I used to have a cat called Patsy and a rat called Jack, who both got on surprisingly well together! They were both 'rescue' animals that I wanted to give a home to. Now I have an old Fox Hound called Joe. He's so lazy! He just sleeps in my office all day. Occasionally he manages a short hill run but he's getting a bit old for that now.

What's the best pet name that you've ever come across?

Ninji Ninj The Ninja  (he was a black cat).
