Having originally trained in New Zealand, I graduated from Massey University in 1995 and have been practising in the UK since 1998. I worked in Essex for 7 years before having the pleasure of opening Braintree Vets4Pets in March 2014 and Maldon in August 2014. I have thoroughly enjoyed my career so far, during which time I have developed a passion for canine and feline medicine and therapeutics and a great enthusiasm for working with small furries (rabbits, guinea pigs, hamsters…) At home I have two cats - Jack (my hand-reared orphan) and Tom (my rescue cat). When not at work, I enjoy the outdoors, rock music, theatre, cinema and travel.

I originally trained in Australia and graduated from the University of Queensland in 2003. After completing an internship in Brisbane I moved to the UK in 2006, and have worked in small animal practice since then. I enjoy all aspects of my career, and I have a particular interest in feline medicine. Initially I worked as a locum for Braintree and Maldon Vets4pets branches before becoming a permanent member of the Maldon team in February 2018. At home, I have two rescue dogs and a growing family of cats. I enjoy travelling and reading whenever I get a chance.

I qualified as a Vet in 2012 from The Royal Veterinary College in London, and have since enjoyed a varied career in mixed general practice in Essex. For the past 2 years I have provided locum cover at both the Braintree and Maldon Vets4Pets branches and in January 2017 joined the Maldon team as a permanent member of staff. I enjoy all aspects of my role, and I have a particular interest in feline and internal medicine. I have 2 cats, called Holmes and Watson, who come second in life to my husband!

I qualified as a Veterinary Nurse in 1994, and spent 12 years nursing in general practice. I have spent the last 15 years working in the Veterinary Pharmaceutical industry, where I was heavily involved in practice staff training in customer service, and preventative health care (vaccination, parasites). During this time I maintained my nursing qualification by working weekends as a nurse at the Romford, Harlow, Chelmsford and most recently Braintree Vets4Pets practices. In January 2017 I returned to my roots, and joined the fabulous Maldon Team as Practice Manager, a new challenge that I am really excited to be taking on. At home I have a husband, a 5 year old son, a 1 year old daughter, 4 cats, 2 dogs and 2 guinea pigs!

I began my nursing career in 2002 and qualified in 2005. Since then I have gained experience working in different practices, most recently working as a ward nurse in a very busy environment. I have an interest in exotic species and completed my exotic nursing certificate in 2010. For the past 3 years I have been a clinical coach which allows me to mentor student nurses during their training, something that I really enjoy being able to do. I am very passionate about my nursing career and have many areas of interest including neurology, physiotherapy, nutrition and wildlife care. Over the past few years I have become a regular hedgehog rehabilitator and developed my knowledge of this now endangered species in order to help protect them. I joined the Maldon team in April 2017 and I am enjoying working within a smaller team where I can have more one to one contact with patients as well as their owners. At home I have 2 cats named Feste and Bear as well as a number of wild hedgehogs and birds that visit my garden daily!

I have always loved animals and always wanted to be a Veterinary Nurse. I spent years volunteering at a rescue shelter and zoos. I qualified as a Veterinary Nurse July 2017 from Middlesex university. I have an African grey parrot called max who is very talkative! I enjoy all aspects of nursing but I have a particular interested in clinical nursing, emergency and critical care. I joined vets4pets July 2017 and love working here and looking after all the animals that need us.

I have always had a love for animals and grew up with 2 Black Labradors, and a host of other small furries at home. We then got our Jack Russell Zack who had the best personality, unfortunately we had to say goodbye to him in April. My parents now only have the dopiest Black Labrador called Jake who we re-homed 6 years ago. I started working with animals when I took a weekend job at the age of 16 at Harvesters Farm Kennels and Cattery. I was privileged to work there for 8 years. When the opportunity came to join a Veterinary practice as a Veterinary care assistant at a large busy practice I took the chance, that was over 6 years ago and I haven’t looked back. I first qualified as an ANA and then I started training as a Veterinary nurse in 2014. I recently qualified in August after a little break having my daughter Rae in 2016. Rae is following in Mummy’s footsteps and becoming an animal lover. At 16 months old she is already learning how to look after her Auntie’s horse Flan, and enjoys riding on Poppy the pony. We have a little cat called Luna at home, who I took home after she was bought into my last practice at 4 months old as a stray. I am not allowed to bring home any more on orders from the Husband! I joined Vets4Pets Maldon in July and have been made to feel very welcome by all of the team and the clients so far. I really am enjoying being in a smaller practice and being part of the Vets4Pets family here at Maldon.

Animals have always been a large part of my life, although up until the age of seven I was actually scared of dogs! This persisted until I became surrounded by puppies and my fear turned into love, which in turn landed us with a Westie, who stayed by my side for 16 years. In 2012 I started working at Farcroft Kennels and Cattery and completed an apprenticeship in Animal Care and Management with The College of Animal Welfare in 2014. I soon realised I wanted to broaden my horizons and venture into the Veterinary Nursing world. I have a particular love for canine behaviour and enjoy a challenging dog. I began working at Vets4Pets Maldon in July 2016 and have learnt so much already. I can’t wait to learn more and begin my nurse training. At the moment I have no pets in my (home) life, so every animal that comes into the practice gets loved as though they are my own.

Animals have always been a huge part of my life and I was lucky enough to have parents that encouraged my passion. I was always surrounded by animals from an early age (before I could even walk!) and my favourite companion was a blind Border Collie. I also owned various small furries, which I cared for by myself as my mum was terrified of them. My childhood dream came true at the age of 10 when I was privileged enough to own the most beautiful Pony, whom I spent 15 wonderful years with. We competed at Show Jumping and Cross country before his old age parted us. I then went on to rescue a Thoroughbred, whom I nurtured back to health, and again spent many happy years together. I have since got married and had a gorgeous son, who also seems to have his mummy's love of animals. We now have two rescued Guinea pigs, brothers Billy and Bertie. Working in a veterinary practice and meeting people and their beloved pets is very rewarding and I am very happy to be part of this new adventure.

Over my life I have never gone long without having some kind of small animal as part of the family. From gerbils called Bubble & Squeek, a Dog called Toby and 2 Budgies, Phil and Lil to Guinea Pigs and Rabbits. My life took a different path and I did not think of working with animals until recently, when I met Mel who works as a Veterinary Nurse here at Vets4Pets. I became a Receptionist at VetsNow Emergency vets where I thoroughly enjoyed working with both the animals and the team. I prefer to work within a practice as you get to know the clients and the animals and build good relations. Outside of work I enjoy spending time with my partner and my daughter who is 8 and loves animals and would like to work with animals, especially Giraffes. We have a 19 year old cat called Stanley, who we refer to as a Sampoody Tiger and a mad but lovable Labradoodle, Lulu. We have also fostered Labradoodles and Goldendoodles from the Labradoodle Society until they could be found a forever home. Within the first week of working at Vets4Pets we adopted a beautiful Black Rabbit called Gizmo who lives as an indoor Rabbit and cuddles up with Stanley and Lulu.

Despite not coming from an animal orientated family, I have loved animals ever since I was small. Over the course of my life so far, I have probably looked after most types at one time or another. Through my late teenage years and early twenties, I owned a lovely part thoroughbred horse, which I bred myself and I was there when she was born. We had a very close bond and she acted more like a dog than a horse. Then came babies; a son, followed by twin daughters, one of whom is now a Vet Nurse. Her one year old daughter really loves animals too, so it seems to run in the family! I now have three rescue dogs - Fern, a 15 year old Border Collie, together with Peggy and Jazz, two mischievous terries whom I love to walk with my partner. I also enjoy cooking and spending time with all my family.
