Meet the team
Emma graduated from the University of Surrey in 2022 and couldn’t wait to move back home. Her first job was in a small animal emergency setting and she since made the move to Vets For Pets in Newtownards to allow more time for individual patient care. In particular, she enjoys neurology and cardiology and is pursuing further education in cardiac scanning.
She has two dogs, a 14 year old terrier, which leaves a special place in her heart for the older patients, and a 1 year old working cocker spaniel, which she likes to run long distance with at the weekends!
Sally graduated from the University of Liverpool in 1998. Starting her career as a Mixed Animal Vet in North Yorkshire, Sally soon gravitated toward Small Animal Practice, allowing her to focus on providing exceptional care for companion pets.
Sally decided to make the move to Northern Ireland with her family, and we are delighted to have her join our team at Vets4Pets Newtownards, where she looks forward to getting to know our fantastic clients and their pets alike! Sally enjoys a wide range of medicine and surgery, and has a keen interest in progressing her ultrasound skills.
In her free time, Sally enjoys getting to spend quality time with her family and her own pets, including her cheeky ex-racehorse Frankie.
We hope you will enjoy getting to know Sally as much as we have!

After 7 years working as an Animal Nursing Auxiliary, Laura enrolled in Greenmount College and gained her Veterinary Nursing qualifications in 2015.
Laura has a particular interest in medical nursing and is determined to make all her patients feel loved and nurtured. She is also a qualified Pet Health Counsellor and runs her own clinics, giving specialist advice.
Laura has a dog called Mitch, a colourful little character with the ability to brighten anyone's day and a cat called Lenny, who Laura couldn't say no to when he was handed into the practice as a stray in much need of some TLC!
Rhianna completed her studies in Animal Care and Animal Management at Belfast Met and CAFRE, and she qualified as an Animal Nursing Assistant in 2022. We were delighted to have Rhianna join our team at the start of 2023, as she is fantastic with both our patients and clients alike!
Rhianna has 2 dogs, a senior Jack Russell, Lola, and a super energetic young Dalmation called Lexi. Rhianna spends a lot of her free time trying to tire Lexi out through walking, throwing the ball and mentally stimulating her with lots of games and treats - a full time job in itself.
We're really excited to support Rhianna's progress as she works towards becoming a Registered Veterinary Nurse with Vets4Pets Newtownards!
Emma joined our growing team in May 2024.
She has a fondness for our feline friends and a keen interest in wound management and emergency care.
Emma has been a qualified RVN for 6 years, but has been in the industry for 24 years so has lots of experience!
Laura qualified as a Registered Veterinary Nurse in 2006 from Greenmount College.
She has over 20 years experience working in small animal practice and has been fortunate enough to spend some time working in Australia and New Zealand working with some of their native animals.
Laura has a particular interest in Radiography and Schedule 3 surgery.
She has a dog called Maisy and 2 rabbits called Angel and Daisy.
Melissa joined the practice in October 2020 as part our Client Care team. She previously worked in the optical industry but then decided that her love of animals would eventually bring her to us.
At home she has a young daughter and a husband, along with a beautiful little rescue Whippet called Moe to keep her busy on her days off.
Melissa loves all animals, big and small and welcomes everyone into the practice with a smile.
Steph is the most recent addition to our wonderful Client Care team, joining us in July 2023. Steph previously worked in the public sector and brings a wealth of customer service experience along with her. Her love of both people and animals makes her a very welcome addition to our growing team!
Steph has a very energetic Springer Spaniel called Benji, and when Benji isn't running Steph off her feet, he loves to cuddle up on the sofa and watch Steph's favourite TV programmes with her.
Megan joined our reception team in September 2024.
Having completed 4 years in a veterinary rehabilitation centre as a hydrotherapist, she decided to move onto dry land and join our clinic!!
Megan is also a qualified masseuse, which takes up some of her spare time, along with her other hobbies, walking and baking!
Vets for Pets Newtownards, is here to welcome you and your pets into our professional, friendly and newly refurbished veterinary practice. Located on the Portaferry Road, we are easily accessible from both the Newtownards area and the Peninsula with plenty of onsite parking, so you don’t have to worry about making it to your appointments on time!
We have grown as a team over the last 7 years and we now have a team of 4 vets, 5 nurses and 3 receptionists who are enthusiastic about all things pets! They will ensure that your visit with us is exceptional from start to finish. Whether you’re welcoming a new puppy or kitten, or saying goodbye to a beloved pet, our caring and compassionate team will make sure to look after you.
Routine consultations with our vets start from £40 with follow-up appointments charged at a reduced fee of £35 plus any medication or treatment you may require. For a specific price for any medical or surgical treatment, please contact the clinic directly.
We also closed for everything, other than emergency appointments, between 1.30 and 2.00pm each day to allow our reception team to get their lunch.
As a practice we really want to do the best for our patients, and our spacious bright reception area is designed so we have separate cat and dog friendly areas for you and you pets to wait in. One of our nurses is also undertaking extra training to make sure we maintain our ISFM accreditation as a cat-friendly-clinic and make our feline patients experience as stress free as possible.
We have all the usual equipment you would expect in a well-established veterinary practice with 3 consultation rooms, pharmacy, laboratory, surgical theatre, dental equipment, ultrasound and digital x-ray to enable us to look after your pets in the most effective way possible.
As a practice, we are really focused on improving animal welfare and providing a high quality care to our patients. To enable us to do this, the practice closes for a morning four times a year so we can undertake staff training and improve the services we can offer. Don’t worry though, there will always be a vet available to treat your pet for any emergencies you might have.
If you would like to register your pet with us or book an appointment, please contact our friendly reception team on 028 9182 4200.
