What is your favourite animal and why?
I dont have a favourite - I just love spending time with, appreciating and interacting with all animals - even better that as a vet I get to have a positive impact on their health and welfare.

What pets do you have and what are their names?
4 horses - Splash, George, Chance and Cassie
2 dogs - Polo and Dazzle
3 ferrets - Nerdy, Ferdy and Chico

In my spare time I like to spend time with my family, 2 legged and four, often with my camera in hand.  I also like to keep active walking, riding, running and skiing if and when I can.

Alongside my role as a vet at Washington vets4pets I am also doing a masters in veterinary clinical research in my area of special interest - transfusion medicine.  Through that I travel and teach in the US intermittently.

I have an interest in all aspects of small animal medicine in cats and dogs but especially transfusion medicine and regenerative medicine.

A bit about me: I joined Washington Vets4pets in 2016.  I grew up in the Scottish Borders, keeping many pets including everything from dogs to chickens and quail.  20 years ago I moved to the North East and followed my dream of working with animals.

I have worked in the veterinary profesion since 2004 and qualified as a nurse in 2007.

I enjoy all aspects of the job but particularly have a keen interest in wound management

In my spare time I enjoy spending time with my whippets, gardening and going to exercise classes

After leaving school in 2012 I originally qualified as a beauty therapist and have worked in many retail stores since.  I have always had pets and working with animals is something I have always been passionate about

I started at Vets4Pets Washington in Sept 2018 and have not looked back since.  Every Day is an exciting challenge and I love the team I work with.

I am the proud co owner of Sam and Lola our family Jack Russels and have a puppy Jack Russel of my own Ollie who recently had an extensive orthopaedic procedure so I was the other side of the consult table.
