Les Van Blerk MRCVS

Owner and Veterinary Surgeon

I am the Joint Venture Partner for the Guernsey Vets4Pets surgeries, opening our St Martins branch in 2004 and our St Sampsons branch in 2010. I am based in the St Martins branch along with Raz.

I grew up in Cape Town, South Africa and I graduated with my first degree of a Bachelor of Science with Honours in Ichthyology: Fisheries science, from Rhodes University and completed my Bachelor of Veterinary Science in 2000 from the University of Pretoria, Onderstepoort.

I have worked in Cape Town, Saudi Arabia and the UK but have been in Guernsey since 2004 when I opened the first practice.

I particularly enjoy soft tissue surgery and am currently studying for an Advanced Orthopeadic certificate in surgery.

Guernsey Vets4Pets Christine Fleischmann

Christine Fleischmann MRCVS

Veterinary Surgeon

I was born and grew up in Vienna, Austria.

I graduated from the University of Veterinary Medicine in Vienna in 2001. I then spent 5 years working in the UK before I moved back to Austria to open my own practice. I sold my practice in 2012 to move with my son, Kimo, along with our golden retriever, Amadeus, to Guernsey to work for Vets4Pets.

I am based at our St Sampsons branch and I also run our mobile veterinary clinic.

I am interested in ophthalmology and soft tissue surgery and in September 2013 I enrolled onto a course with the RCVS to complete a certificate in advanced small animal practice.

Guernsey Vets4Pets Raz Feldmesser

Dr. Raz Feldmesser MRCVS

Veterinary Surgeon

I was born and grew up in Tel-Aviv, Israel, constantly surrounded by animals. I could never imagine my life without them and becoming a vet was just a matter of time, along with support from my parents.

In 2010, I graduated from the University of Kosice in Slovakia with a degree in Veterinary Medicine. After graduation I moved to London where I worked in a variety of different small animal practices and referral hospitals.

In July 2013, I moved to the island with my wife Clarisse and our cat Georgette. My family has now grown larger and we have two beautiful little girls, Alma and Nina who were both born here.

I have a strong interest in Radiology and I have recently qualified as a post-graduate Certificate holder in Diagnostic imaging (Radiography, Ultrasonography, CT and MRI modalities). My passion continues and I am already busy studying for the next level in this field.

Vicky Babbe MRCVS

Veterinary Surgeon

I graduated from Cambridge University in 2003 and worked in mixed and small animal practice in the UK before settling in Guernsey in 2011.

Having a fascination for eyes and ocular disorders I spent several years spending every spare minute with various Veterinary Ophthalmologists before passing the Royal College Certificate in Veterinary Ophthalmology in 2011. I now perform many of the eye surgeries on Guernsey pets using our fantastic operating microscope at the St Martins surgery.

In the last 3 years I have become very interested in pain management and enrolled on the Western Veterinary Acupuncture and Chronic Pain Management Certificate. I now run the Acupuncture service for Vets4Pets based at the St Sampsons surgery, the Wellness Centre. Here I work with our Physiotherapy and Hydrotherapy team to help animals in pain or having post-surgical rehabilitation. I love getting to know my patients and seeing them go from strength to strength!

Apart from work I have 2 daughters and a tribe of rescue animals who keep me happy and busy!

Caroline Kyle BVM&S MRCVS DVM

Veterinary Surgeon

Originally from Guernsey, I started visiting Vets4Pets when I was still in school in order to get relevant work experience for university applications. Whilst studying at the University of Edinburgh I continued to remain in contact with the team here and was fortunate enough to receive a bursary from Vets4Pets to support my studies. I love to travel and during my degree I took my veterinary education around the world including conservation work with a safari park, shelter medicine in India and spent time at the University of California, Davis, completing an externship in Cardiology.

I graduated from Edinburgh earlier this year and was offered a job here along with a place in the Vets4Pets graduate scheme; it is great to be back with the Vets4Pets family.

In my spare time I like to be outdoors either running, cycling or attempting to surf! It's good to be back at home and I'm looking forward to meeting all of your pets.

Practice Manager

I was born and grew up in London and qualified as a veterinary nurse in 1992. I worked for the RSPCA Putney Animal Hospital for many years as a theatre staff nurse and am proud to be the first veterinary nurse to have ever performed surgery on TV for Animal Hospital whilst studying for my surgical diploma. I moved to Guernsey in 2004 and worked with Les as his Head Nurse, helping to build the business to where it is today. I left in 2011 for 3 years to pursue other things but have now come back as Practice Manager.

I have two mad cats at home, ‘Jock’ and ‘Dexter’ and am currently studying for a veterinary management degree. In my spare time, I enjoy drawing and painting and have my own pet portrait website where I do commissions.

Registered Veterinary Nurse

I qualified as a veterinary nurse in 2004. I am currently working for Vets4Pets as the on call nurse and have the out of hours emergency phone all year round. I work in practice three days a week and cover shifts when needed and look after the patients who stay with us overnight.

I have three sons, Jake, Jack and Ollie and also four dogs and six cats all of whom take up my spare time.

Julie De Heaume RVN

Registered Veterinary Nurse

I have been fortunate enough to have worked in the Veterinary industry for 16 years and qualified as a registered veterinary nurse in 2008. I have joined the Vets4Pets team in April 2015 as a veterinary nurse and look forward to a long and happy career here.

I am also trained as an assessor and hope to be working with the student nurses to help them achieve their qualifications as we are a registered training practice.

I have three grown up sons and seven grandchildren, which keep me very busy!

I also have one cat called ‘Tiddles’, who I rescued 16 years ago, so he must be about 18 years old now - a real senior citizen!

Guernsey Vets4Pets Kirsti Mahieu

Kirsti Mahieu

Animal Nursing Assistant

I left school in 2001 to work within the veterinary industry as an Animal Healthcare Assistant.

I left my previous veterinary position to raise my two children, who are now 8 and 10 years old. We have a family Boxer dog called Ellie.

When my youngest child started school I decided I wanted to carry on my career within the veterinary industry. I applied for a job at Vets4Pets where I enrolled on an Animal Health Care course in 2013. I qualified in 2014.

Assisting the veterinary surgeons in theatre is a great interest to me, especially orthopaedic surgery.

I also run the Vets4Pets puppy parties with the other members of staff.

Working for Vets4Pets is enjoyable as we have a great team. I love building relationships and special bonds with our clients and caring for their pets.

Guernsey - Joe - V4P.jpg

Joe Streeting

Trainee Animal Health Assistant

I left school after my 12th year in order to pursue a career in animal care, and after applying for a job was luck enough to be picked up by the Vets4pets team as a trainee care assistant in October 2015.

I have lived with animals all my life and currently own three cats, two dogs and two parrots and have volunteered at the local animal shelter since 2012 where I discovered my passion for animals.

Naomi Langlois

Training Nurse

I recently joined the team at Vets4Pets at the end of January 2017.

Working with animals is something I have always wanted to do. I first met the team when I did a couple of weeks' work experience back in May 2016. I kept in touch, and was lucky enough to receive a job offer. I have been enrolled onto the Animal Nursing Assistant course at Myerscough College and also hope to train and qualify as a Veterinary Nurse sometime in the future.

Matthew Lowe

I joined the practice at the end of June 2016. I have a qualification in Business Administration where I learned a lot that has helped me in my role as a receptionist. While I don't use it as much as I should I also know shorthand.

I also have a BTEC qualification in ICT. With a background in working in customer service I make it a priority to give my best to look after our clients and ensure they get the best service they can.

We have a family dog called Sam who is 10 years old, and much like me, he is barking mad! In my spare time I enjoy swimming, drawing and socialising with my friends.
