Iain Cope BSc(VetSci)Hons BVM&S CertAVP(ZM) MRCVS RCVS recognised Advanced Practitioner in Zoological Medicine

Practice Owner and Veterinary Surgeon

Iain Cope graduated in 2006 from Edinburgh University and has worked in mixed, small animal, and exotics and zoo practices. 

He gained his certificate in Zoological Medicine in 2011 and since 2014 is an RCVS recognized Advanced Practitioner in Zoological Medicine. 

Iain is the JVP of Vets4Pets Newmarket and is pleased to be able to offer a cat, dog, rabbit and exotic animal practice with the latest equipment and facilities. 

Iain also teaches nurses and veterinary surgeons and talks nationally and internationally. He has been published in peer reviewed veterinary journals and participates on boards and committees. 

Iain owns a tortoise called Matilda and four Leopard Geckos.

Jess Hawe BVSc MRCVS

Veterinary Surgeon

Jess joined the Newmarket team in June 2018. After graduating from the University of Liverpool in 2016, Jess has worked in small animal practice in both the U.K. and New Zealand before doing an internship in in wildlife veterinary work and conservation out in South Africa.

At home Jess is kept busy by a rabbit called Flapjack and a Rhodesian Ridgeback called Amber. In her spare time she is working towards a masters in Conservation Medicine and enjoys travelling and catching up with friends!

Zoe Woodhams BVMedSci(Hons) BVM BVS MRCVS

Veterinary Surgeon

Zoe graduated from the University of Nottingham and is moving to Newmarket from Hampshire. She has particular interest in dog and cat medicine and surgery, but is also looking forward to working with the wide range of exotic animals that the practice sees.

Outside of work Zoe is a rugby player and Harlequins supporter - a great way of letting off some steam! She is also an avid movie fan and at home Zoe has a Flatcoated Retriever and two Welsh Springer Spaniels to keep her entertained.

Gemma Fox RVN

Registered Veterinary Nurse

Gemma has been nursing since 2002 and qualified as a Registered Veterinary Nurse in 2005 whilst working in a mixed practice. 

Gemma has worked mixed and small animal practices in Surrey, Norfolk and Suffolk, before joining Vets4Pets Newmarket in September 2016. 

'Gemma enjoys all aspects of nursing, but in particular anaesthesia, nutrition and exotics nursing. Gemma is currently studying for her City and Guilds Certificate in Exotic Animal Nursing.

Gemma has two crazy Springer Spaniels called Buzz and Apollo who keep her on her toes outside of work.

Emily Grinnell RVN

Registered Veterinary Nurse

Emily qualified as a Registered Veterinary Nurse in 2014, after studying at the College of Animal Welfare in Huntingdon. She has worked in first opinion and referral hospitals around Lincolnshire and Cambridgeshire, before joining Vets4Pets Newmarket in October 2016. 

Emily loves all aspects of nursing, it giving her a great sense of satisfaction to be able to help, care for and nurse sick animals back to health. 

Emily has a keen interest in anaesthesia, nursing clinics, neonatal care, and nursing exotic patients, and is studying for the Advanced Diploma in Veterinary Nursing. 

At home Emily has a very handsome kitten called Eric who she hand reared from birth, as well as two naughty Degus called Harvey and Barry.

Sam McAulay

Veterinary Nurse

Sam has been nursing for the past 10 years and after having taken time out to have her two children, qualified as a Veterinary Nurse in August 2018. She has a degree in Animal Behaviour and a keen interest in wildlife after spending a few months in Australia volunteering at a rehabilitation centre for injured wildlife in Perth.

Sam loves all aspects of nursing including medical nursing and nurse clinics where she gets a huge satisfaction and pride interacting and educating clients. Sam runs our Senior Pet clinics and the physio-laser therapy sessions.

At home Sam is kept busy by her family, her labrador Reuben, her cat Mir and her corn snake Nya.

Amber Coulson

Student Veterinary Nurse

Before Amber joined Vets4Pets in April 2017 she gained experience working in a veterinary referral centre, specialising in the neurology and opthamology ward.

Amber loves working with animals, particularly being part of their recovery and assist in nursing them back to being healthy happy pets. I'm very keen to pursue my long term career goal of completing my veterinary nursing qualification and am excited to work towards this.

At home Amber has two crazy Pugs named Millie and Reggie who enjoys being active members of the local dog walking group.

Alice BSc Zoology (Hons)

Student Veterinary Nurse

Alice joined the Newmarket team in September 2018. After graduating from University College Dublin with a BSc Zoology (Hons), Alice worked abroad as a herpetologist, researching a plethora of wild reptile and amphibian species in Madagascar, Honduras and Mexico. However, in 2014 she changed career paths and went into the TV & film industry. Although it was fun and exciting to work on TV shows, commercials and feature films, she knew there was something missing.

Alice always loved animals from an early age and realised her true passion was working with wildlife and science, with a keen interest in exotic animals. Alice is very excited to work towards her veterinary nursing qualification and starting this new journey at Newmarket Vets4Pets.

Ella

Veterinary Care Assistant

'Ella joined Vets4Pets Newmarket in October 2016 as a receptionist and loves seeing all of the different patients that visit, especially when they leave feeling better, seeing an animal go from illness right through to recovery. Ella has thus now joined our nursing team as our Veterinary Care Assistant, where she can look after all of our inpatients whilst they spend time with us.

Ella studied for a National Diploma in Animal Management after finishing school, and finished studying as a veterinary nursing assistant in June 2017. Ella has a keen interest in cats and would like to complete her veterinary nursing and go on to specialise in feline clinics in the future.

Out of work Ella lives with her partner and a clowder of cats!

Jessica

Client Care Manager

Jess joined Vets4Pets Newmarket in October 2016 as one of the receptionists after spending 10 years in Hospitality. 

Jess is very excited by this change in direction and a chance to follow her dream of working in the animals sector. 

She particularly enjoys meeting all the animals and their owners, and has spent time volunteering with birds of prey and exotic small animals. 

At home Jess has 2 dogs, 7 Chickens and a house rabbit called Hughie.

Client Care Advisor

Nadine joined Vets4Pets Newmarket as a receptionist in September 2017 and is very excited to be part of the team. Nadine loves all types of animals and is looking forward to meeting all the different species and clients that come into the practice to visit us.

At home Nadine is kept busy with her daughter, her chickens and her Bulldog called Albert.

Client Care Advisor

Jenny joined Vets4Pets Newmarket in April 2018 as a Client Care Advisor. Jenny has a long history working with animals. Since completing her National Diploma in Animal Management, she has gained a thorough experience in the field, from working within a kennel environment to assisting customer needs as a store colleague with over 5 years experience at Pets at Home.

Jenny enjoys building customer relationships and looks forward to getting to know both you and your pet. At home Jenny lives with her partner and has a Dutch rabbit called Angel.
