Hi I’m Darran, one of the minority of male registered Veterinary Nurses here at South Shields Quays.

I have 14 years’ experience in the veterinary business. I spent 13 years at my previous practice working with Cats, Dogs, Rabbits and the more exotic species; including, small furries, snakes, birds of prey, parrots and even a lioness! I gained a Nursing exotic certificate in 2016.

I joined the fab team here at Vets4Pets South Shields Quays in September 2021 having moved here from Chesterfield in Derbyshire.

I have a keen interest in all species of animals but I do have a soft spot for German Shepherds and any reptile and avian pets.

Although at the moment I am pet free, I have in the past had the pleasure to have owned a variety of different pets including Dogs, Rabbits, Guinea Pigs, Gerbil, Lovebird and a variety of aviary bird’s tropical fish and a royal Python!

Outside of work, I enjoy going for walks and discovering new places, listening to music, bird watching and dolphin spotting. I also enjoy Quizzes and Quiz shows and reading horror fiction and factual books on wildlife. I very occasionally attempt to play my own guitar rather badly!

Hi, I’m Steph!

I’m a zoology graduate who has worked as a registered veterinary nurse at South Shields Quays since 2022!

Over the years I've worked in various zoos and aquariums across the UK. I love learning about animal behaviour, and my favourite project so far investigated the target training of ring-tailed lemurs! My passion for animals has taken me to South Africa (studying rhino population demographics), Belize, (rehabilitating manatees), and now to South Shields Quays!

When I’m not running through the woods or practicing yoga, I’m busy chasing after Zola my Great Dane or buying another knitted jumper for my tortoise, (don’t judge).

Hi I’m Vikki! I'm the Practice Manager here at South Shields Quays.

I've been here for 5 years now, watching our practice grow. I love meeting new clients and furry faces everyday!

When I'm not looking after the practice and our team, I love caring for Darius; My beautiful 32 year horse! It's always fun trying to get him back in his stable after a full days work!

Outside of work, I can be found cleaning up the disaster trail after Oscar and Ollie; My two crazy Patterdale terrier brothers.

Hi, I’m Kayleigh!

I have worked at South Shields Quays since March 2021.

Every day is different and definitely keeps me on my toes which makes it a challenging but exciting place to work. It's great not knowing what is coming through the door next!

I love to be positive and making people smile! I like chatting to new clients and cuddling their furry companions.

On my days off, my pups Ollie the Maltese and Cassie the Cocker Spaniel keep me on my toes!

Hello, I’m Ilicia!

I have been working here at South Shields Quays for 4 years and I am embarking upon my nursing journey.

I love my job as every day is diverse and exciting; surrounded by my colleagues who are hardworking and strive to give the best possible care to our patients always.

I have a 14 year old Maltese called Lillie who I have had since I was 11 years old. She is my little best friend!

Whenever I get the chance, I love to travel anywhere possible! Nature walks are my favourite and I love to binge watch a good series.
