Gavin Young 

Veterinary Surgeon and Practice Partner

After graduating in 2004 at the RVC, Gavin was employed at Springwell Veterinary Practice in Hertfordshire for seven years before opening Vets4Pets Southend in April 2012. Gavin opened the practice with only two receptionists and one nurse. The staffing has now grown to employ two vets, two receptionists and two full time nurses and a practice manager. Gavin has two beautiful daughters aged 6 years and 18 months.

Elinor Hinton

Veterinary Surgeon 

Elinor has visited many countries, starting in South America in her gap year before beginning her Veterinary training at the RVC in 2004.  After graduating, Elinor has worked in the Southend area previously and then spent six and a half months travelling to south East Asia, Australia, New Zealand and Hawaii before coming back to sunny Southend and joining the Vets4Pets team in May 2014.

Pets: Flint, a Leopard Gecko. Walter and Jessie, both Blue Tongue Skinks. A Corn snake called Pop and a Royal Python named Obelisk.

Kamila Jachacz

Registered Veterinary Surgeon

Kamila joined the team in February 2017 from Poland after graduating in 2016. Kamila worked in an animal shelter in Gdansk for 6 months assisting in their neutering programme. She then spent time in Italy assisting a neurological team which she thoroughly enjoyed. Kamila now has a keen interest in Neurology along with Feline medicine.

Pets: two rescue cats named Roman and Andrew.

In her spare time, Kamila enjoys scuba diving, cooking, going to the gym and reading.

Onesie: Foxy

Animal lookalike: Tawny Owl

Kamila loves cuddling puppies and kittens and feels she was born to be a vet!

Charlotte Sharrad

Registered Veterinary Nurse

Charlotte graduated as a Veterinary Nurse in 2011. Since then Charlotte has worked at Earls Hall vets, Your vets and Companion Care. Charlotte has a keen interest in Exotics, Neonatal and Animal Behaviour. Charlotte enjoys going to the cinema, going to the gym, reading and socialising with friends.

Pets: Belle – Cavalier King Charles Spaniel aged 6, a 15 year old cat called Patch, an 11 year old cat called Tammy, and 9 chickens called Ruby, Rosey, Daphne, Buffy, Snow, Gold, Mystic, Treacle and Doris.

Onesie: Christmas onesie.

Vets4Pets southend Sandra

Sandra Bak

Student Veterinary Nurse 

Sandra came to Vets4Pets Southend to gain experience working in animal care. Due to Sandra’s hard working, we snapped her up and began employment eight months later working as a nursing assistant and on weekend Reception. Sandra is now enrolled in her 1st year as a student veterinary nurse at the RVC.

Pets: Three year old pussy cat Tia, Rupert a long haired ginger male and Serafina whom she adopted after she came in to Vets4Pets care.

Vets4Pets southend Tammany

Tammany Simpkin

Nursing Assistant

Tammany (named after the Tammanies Red Indians) worked for Vets4Pets Rayleigh from 2000 – 2013. After covering staff holidays at Vets4Pets Southend, we nabbed her from Rayleigh (naughty vets) knowing she would be a valuable addition to the team. Tammany also owns Wood View kennels in Ashingdon and fosters for the RSPCA. Tammany is awesome!

Pets: Rottweiler’s  Lanza and Shanti. Wire-haired Dachshund Shutzi. A Mealy Amazon Parrot called Buzby and a new puppy Rottweiler called Wilby.

Animal lookalike: Rottweiler.

Khadija Saboula

Veterinary Care Assistant

Khadija started work experience with us in November 2015 as part of her Animal Care Course. She then started part time on reception in July 2016 and is currently studying a Veterinary Care Assistant Course online. Khadija still attends one day a week for work experience as part of the VCA course. Khadija has volunteered at Vets4Pets in Rayleigh, Acres Way, Ragwood and The Animal Wildlife Sanctuary in Benfleet.

Pets: 3 cats called Leo, Oscar and Zoe and a Jack Russell cross called Daisy.

Animal Lookalike: Sun Bear.

Shannon Channell


Shannon was previously employed as a kennel maid/walker at a dogs' kennels in Latchingdon where she had worked since the age of 16. Shannon has a three year old son. In between motherhood and working at the kennels, Shannon has managed to study Animal Care, Animal Science and Biology. Shannon is our newest member of staff, starting with us in July 2016.

Pets: Narla, Page and Vinnie; three adorable Staffordshire Bull Terriers. Two Geckos, Giz and Mo.

Katy Robertson


Katy previously worked as part of the Hospitality Team at the famous Cliffs Pavilion Theatre. Whist meeting many celebrities such as Michelle Collins. Katy studied Animal Management at Southend College whilst gaining work experience with Vets4Pets Southend for a year. Katy was offered employment at Vets4Pets Southend in June 2016. 

Pets: Jack and Alfie, two lovely  Cocker Spaniels.

Julie Lamb


Julie joined our reception team in October 2016. Julie has previously worked as a Doctor's receptionist for a large local surgery. She has also been a fundraiser/fosterer and a member of the committee for Southend Cats Protection for the last 22 years.

Pets: Mia, a black Labrador, 3 foster cats - May, Fluffy and Star, 6 of her own cats – Luisa, Squeaker, Gary, Smokey, Smid and Prince and a bearded dragon called George.

Julie enjoys cooking, fundraising for Cats Protection, MacMillan Cancer Trust and her church.

Onesie: Mickey Mouse.

Vets4Pets southend Poppy

Poppy Young

Practice Pup 

I am two years old and have given birth to five little pups. Gavin treated me the whole way through my pregnancy and he fell in love with me (understandably) and as I only had a temporary home with Many Tears Rescue, Gavin adopted me! I am very happy with my new family at Vets4Pets and I love all animals, although I do like to try and chase rabbits but hey, that’s the terrier in me! 

Animal lookalike: Poppy of course! 

Do you own a onesie? No, But the staff do like to dress me up in surgery and staff clothing.
